RE: latest endowment numbers
Interesting. Nearly a $12 million increase in the AState endowment over about a 2 year period. Even more interesting because the system president had told me a few months ago that increasing the endowment was not a significant concern because they are focused on getting the med school and Mexico campus open and expected both to be major revenue centers because both are being operated as private institutions owned by the university.

OOPS!!!!
Duplicate Post.
Skullymaroo beat me to it.
Some of the totals may be higher. Some universities have multiple funds. For example, the University of South Alabama has two listings.
University of South Alabama Foundation - $298,536,000
University of South Alabama - $160,000,000

You do know that US universities have overseas campuses right? FSU and Nova Southeastern have had campuses in Panama since the 70's.

The lowest endowment of any school accepting an invite to a P5 conference the last go around was 438 million dollars. When WVU was accepted to the B12 their endowment numbers and land grant status were listed on the B12 website as highlights.
Louisville was invited to the ACC with pretty regional academics but could boast a 775 million dollar endowment. To the HRG a large endowment means a school is passable academically.
Historically the line for a large endowment has been about 300 million dollars. That is still a pretty significant sum in these days and evidence of fundraising capacity beyond a couple of nice gifts.
Anyone below 300-400 mill is off the table for an HRG conference or even the AAC unless you're bringing to the table a 50,000 a game average like ECU did or an elite basketball program like Memphis. Service Academy also excepted.

RE: latest endowment numbers
are Idaho and NMSU full members or affiliate? If I remember correctly they are also the only SBC teams listed in the top 200 academic rankings of USNWR. If not already full members it seems like the Sun Belt would benefit from adding them.

Indeed. The state of Queretaro is one of the richest areas of Mexico. Most colleges in Mexico are commuter. They wanted to establish a US style university where students live on campus. They wanted programs and curriculum that were already accredited in the US. They are constructing the $50 million starter campus at no cost to ASU and funding the startup at no cost to us.

Expect to be at 6,000 students in short order. All classes taught in English at request of the local government and the multinational corporations in the area who want grads with a US style English college education.
It will essentially be a for-profit private college owned by Arkansas State.
While not set in stone, there has been talk of the campus hosting some exempt foreign athletic events like basketball tournaments.

We could make a ton of money off that thing. And it would be awesome to host our own exempt athletic tournament.
