(01-28-2014 12:55 PM)CliftonAve Wrote:  Tim Pernetti—former AD at Rutgers and current Chief Business Officer of Major League Soccer expansion team NY City FC.

Pros:
-Has media connections. Former broadcaster for ABC, FSN and ESPN Regional Television from 2002-2005.
-He oversaw the day to day college football business for ABC Sports and was Vice President of Programming & Talent of CSTV.
- He managed the agreement between CSTV and the MWC to produce the MTN network.
- As AD at Rutgers, he is credited with delivery more than $100M in new revenue to the athletic department in four years.
- Oversaw the expansion of the stadium from 41,0500 to 52,454.
- He developed the plans and raised the funds to renovate their basketball arena (RAC or Rutgers Athletic Center).
- He was the architect of the agreement to bring Rutgers into the B10.

Cons:
-The Mike Rice scandal. This ultimately cost him his job as he only suspended Rice for three games and gave him a fine.
-Salary. I am going to guess he would command near the top end (or even outside) of UC’s budget for the position. That being said given what is at stake it may very well be well worth the price.

Let's not forget about the football bullying scandal, Pernetti was still AD when that was taking place.

Piggy backing off of this link. Here is a link to a PDF published by a third party that investigated the bullying accusations.

Does that person exist?

Greg Harrell...hurry and grow up into a candidate.

Don't think he is qualified yet, but every interaction I have had with him has been top notch. I think very highly of Greg Harrell

I have one daughter at UC and another heavily considering attending in a year and a half.

I will do the job for cheap if I get free tuition for the girls.

That's where you should have said, "If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve."

I am smart enough to know that quote predates Paulsen by about 70 or 80 years.

I think Sherman said it. (And no not Richard...)

RE: Suggested AD Recommendations?
Mike O’Brien at Toledo would be my pick in a landslide. I have encountered a dozen or so ADs the last handful of years (mainly from the B1G and MAC) running events and he would be regarded in such esteem similar to gruehls was on here and in life (my second reference to gruehls in 1 day, his presence on here is greatly missed). Knowing Mike, he is a hard working humble man that enjoys what he does and is a family man. At 60, with a 12 year old son, I don’t know if he would be willing to make a move (he has turned down bigger jobs before). In 2011, O’Brien was voted by his peers as the Northeast Athletic Director of the Year.

Some quick PROs that jump to mind

1. Helped a smaller school like Toledo with major renovation projects / buildings.
2. Former assistant AD at Kansas State (O’Brien is from Iowa City) for many years and has B12 connections.
3. Has scheduled home and home football games with power schools from the SEC, B12, ACC, B1G and old BE. Missouri is playing in the Glass Bowl next season, Cincinnati has been there, etc…ranked power conference teams have done football home and homes with Toledo???
4. Scheduled UT basketball at Kansas this year, basketball at Michigan next season etc

You would be bringing in and paying somebody seasoned like O’Brien only if you were serious about continuing to BUILD upon our current successes. I wanted him to replace Goin back in the day and was sad when Mike Thomas was selected (it would be bittersweet for me to see O'Brien leave Toledo because he has been awesome for UT IMHO).

You have to admit, that Savage Hall renovation and their indoor practice facilities are pretty awesome.

His scheduling also can be attributed to a ton of connections (Pinkel is the primary reason why Missouri is coming to town), but he is still the best possible candidate in my eyes. Only thing is, I doubt he'd want to move with so many years and such a history there.
