RE: Daily Oklahoman: What does Texas' hire of Charlie Strong mean for OU and OSU?

He should fence off Texas and take the recruits he can develop and not just high rated ones. Don't agree that he's taking Hurtt back with him. Hurtt is a scum bag.
Fence off Texas?? Ridiculous....How is he going to do that. Hundreds of top players come out of Texas and UT can only take 25 of them and usually they take the 25 they want and others take the rest.
There is a saying in Texas....UT does not recruit players, they pick them.
Mack Brown bigger problem is/was talent evaluation...if anything that is Charlie Strong best quality...now the UT fans need to realize he is not going to go by the services....trust his eye for talent....

Doesn't matter who Strong picks, the local services will continue to do him the same disservice they did Mack because they are run by UT homers and base star rankings on where a kid commits.
If a kid is a 4 star but commits to A&M, they downgrade him to a 3
If a kid is a 3 star but commits to UT, they bump him to a 4.
All so they can sell subscription to dumb UT fans and let them crow about having the highest ranked class every year....but are then baffled when these supposedly all world classes fail to perform at the high level they were rated.
The 5-7 team was one of their highest rated ever.

Don't get me started on the "services"....Isaiah Ford when he was committed to Louisville was a 3*....when he de committed he gained his 4*...now he can very well commit back with UofL...he will probably dropped down to a 3*...same thing with Teddy Bridgewater....was a 5* when it appeared he was going to either LSU or Miami...when he committed to Louisville dropped down to a 4*...also! Jeff Driskell according to the services was the better QB Prospect out of Florida that year...we know the rest of the story... ... ....

Louisville did not have great talent this year. They had an elite QB. The rest of their roster was really no more talented than the rest of the AAC.
I thought their Oline was good, Really good QB and WRs. Brown is a truck like RB with some speed. A couple of real nice DBs, that 1 safety is really good.
Good LBs. They have talent. I think strong did a really good job fixing the Krag drag, but Petrino left Krag with many bad apples (that Krag had to jettison).
Ironically Smith left Petrino a solid program of talent, and again Strong has done the same for Petrino again. Full circle

He is a upset Houston guy for no reason....UofL this year and the next couple of years will have a lot of players having their name called in the NFL Draft...this year Bridgewater and Pryor are both considered 1st Rounders....Marcus Smith a 2nd/3rd Rounder...also, Preston Brown, Brandon Dunn, Hakeem Smith are NFL Draftees as well.
Next year look for Lorenzo Mauldin, DeVonte Parker, Michael Dyer, Charles Gaines and Terrell Floyd to be NFL Draftees as well...but....according to Coog UofL had no talent...
Louisville...two 1st NFL Draftees:
