If we want to move from pretenders to contenders, we need to play our best game and beat this tough Tigers squad. A win in this game could go a looooong way towards us getting on Bracketology as a 15 seed.
Oh yeah…we'll be lucky to keep it close against the mighty Tigers.
You jackwagons just about jinxed that one!!
hahaha, I was was thinking the same thing!

He has corrected his error, thanks to our win @Towson, and even somehow decided to put us in instead of Drexel (tied for first). Has us as a 9 seed playing against Dayton, which would be definitely a winnable game...unfortunately the second round @UCONN would not be as winnable.

I think by season's end, IF we run the table in the CAA, we end up as a 6 or 7 seed. That would probably put us in either Knoxville or Lexington regional.
Glad he put us in the bracket this time though, it's nice to know where we stand.

I agree. The Lady Dukes (if they run the table and win the CAA tourney) will sport a 29-4 record, and should be a 6, or 7th seed at worse.

Latest has JMU playing Dtayton in Storrs. Not that it means much. JMU #9, Dayton #8. I really don't want the 9 or 8 seed. Actually that was last Monday's. We shall see what tomorrow's release says.

Newest bracketology has them still as a 9 seed, but has moved them to the Durham regional. Creme has them paired up with Oklahoma who beat JMU the last time we made the ncaa tournament.

he has Marist getting an at large. I know they have a good program, but history means nothing. it's about this year.
does this look like an at large team to you?
http://warrennolan.com/basketballw/2014/schedule/Marist
if they are on the bubble, we are a stone cold lock to get in with 1 regular season loss and an upset in the tourney.

Honestly, Marist looks almost identical to us. If you are saying that since they are in, then we should be in as well, then I agree.
Here may be a better comparison to look at. It is a replica of the NCAA selection sheet that the committee looks at when comparing teams.
Marist
JMU

You can go back and forth all day. In the eyes of the committee, we both have a loss to a team in the 105-115 range and both have 2 wins against top 50 teams. Iona and Quinnipiac are ranked better than Drexel and Delaware. They have 0 games against teams over an RPI of 300 so far, we have 3.
IMO, neither team would be viewed significantly better than the other(at this point). By the end of the season, I would bet that JMU is considered better due to being in the better conference(as you pointed out).

Who has Marist been playing that their SOS is 13th? How in the world is their schedule 60 spots better than JMU's? Got to wonder...

Would rather be a 11 or 12th seed than a 8 or 9

It is not so much who they have played, it is who they have NOT played. They didn't play Norfolk St, Alcorn St and Prarie View A&M, all teams below 300 in the RPI. JMU has higher opponents, but also much lower opponents as well.

Perhaps...although nowhere have I read a report showing Marist with a SOS of 13. Realtime shows them with something in the 90s.

Neither have I. Overall it is in the 90s(and JMU is at 105), I was referring to Out Of Conference(OOC) SOS.
Again, part of my point is that at this point(early in the conference season) Marist and JMU are basically the same, and as I said earlier by the end of the season JMU will be viewed better because we are in a better conference than Marist.

It's probably not going to matter because unless there is an announcement that we are leaving the CAA, there is no chance we lose in that tournament this year. If we come out focused every game, there won't be a margin within 20 points. That's how good we are and how bad the rest of the league is.

OOC SOS? Am I understanding you correctly...that you think Marist has played a stronger OOC SOS than JMU? Hmmm...don't think so.
With JMU playing the likes of Vandy, NC, UCLA, UVA, Miss St., and Pitt, even tho Pitt is in the 130s, it's hard...no, check that, it's unbelievable that Marist has played a tougher OOC SOS.

You have to look at the entire OOC schedule and not just cherry pick the top teams. JMU has also played horrible teams like Alcorn State, Norfolk State, and Prairie View A&M (all with current RPIs in the 300's). While Marist has also played some top teams (Kentucky, Oklahoma, Ohio State) and no one with a current RPI of over 200, let alone in the 300's.

A 6 or 11 seed would be ideal. You avoid the top two seeds until the Sweet Sixteen.
