Gotta say, I'm flabbergasted by the lack of research Creme did on this one...

http://espn.go.com/ncw/bracketology

He actually thinks TOWSON is going to win the CAA?? What a freakin joke.

That said, we are on the "first 4 out" assuming we don't win the league. The only way that doesn't happen is if we announce a conference move before March making us ineligible for the CAA tourney because we are by far the best team in this terribly weak league.
That dude is crazy....

Has the CAA ever had a 16 seed in women's basketball? Between ODU, Delaware, and JMU, I am not sure the CAA has been lower than 12 ever (and to the BDK'ers out there...if I am wrong, please correct me gently).

I know it's early but that's a terrible estimate on who the CAA will send and what seed we would get.
Towson is 2-0, JMU is 1-0. He did not research it at all, he took whoever was listed first in the conference standings on the ESPN site and gave them the auto bid no matter how ridiculous it is. We can fix that by beating them on Thursday on the road and then see what he thinks next week. It is extremely lazy and makes the entire bracket completely worthless because there are multiple instances of this happening.

Yr Team Seed
86 JMU 8
87 JMU 4
88 JMU 4
89 JMU 6
90 Richmond 10
91 JMU 8
92 ODU 10
93 ODU 7
94 ODU 6
95 ODU 8
96 ODU 2 JMU 13
97 ODU 1
98 ODU 1
99 ODU 2
00 ODU 4
01 ODU 11
02 ODU 7
03 ODU 12
04 ODU 8
05 ODU 11
06 ODU 10
07 ODU 7 JMU 9 Delaware 12
08 ODU 5
09 Drexel 12 VCU 10
10 JMU 9
11 JMU 11
12 Delaware 3
13 Delaware 6

The team listed first won the autobid.
86-88 seeds went to 10(40 teams)
89-93 seeds went to 12(48 teams)
94-now seeds to 16

So, to answer your question, no the CAA has never had a 16 seed and the lowest ever was a 13 seed.
Lunardi does the same thing on the men's side, yet, people take his word as if he is on the selection committee.
My wife saw that article yesterday. We both thought it was absolutely nuts and showed a complete lack of research.

Yes, and frankly, this absurd "bracket" is insulting not just to JMU, but to the entire CAA.

In most current RPI power rankings, JMU is listed in the high 30s to 40ish range...and Realtime RPI projects JMU not to lose another regular season game. Even if the Lady Dukes were to stumble in the CAA tourney, if they enter the Championship tourney with a 26-4 record they will have an at-large bid extended to them.
Longhorn

Agree, I looked up their RPI yesterday and I think it something like 45, don't remember exactly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lady Dukes to go 16-0 in the CAA this year. As you stated if they stumble in the
CAA Tournament I also expect them to get an at large, contrary to what that stuff Creme wrote!! Looks like he hasn't even see the lady Dukes play this year.
If he had I would hope he would have come to a slightly different conclusion.

Go Dukes.

Not sure why everyone is bashing Charlie. This is the formula ESPN follows for bracketology, and it is always skewed at the very beginning of conference play. I think it's interesting to see that as it stands, we're squarely on the bubble without the CAA auto-bid.

The Lady Dukes margin of error is probably only 1 game in conference play to secure an at large bid. I don't think two conference losses gets us in with anything other than an auto bid.

Agreed. It'd be a nervy selection show for sure.
Clearly these two don't compare notes

HUGE game tomorrow night against projected CAA champ Towson on the road.

If we want to move from pretenders to contenders, we need to play our best game and beat this tough Tigers squad. A win in this game could go a looooong way towards us getting on Bracketology as a 15 seed.

Oh yeah…we'll be lucky to keep it close against the mighty Tigers.
Interesting item in the article that said Kirby scored 37 pts. I was at the game, it was 33. Really annoys the daylights out of me when the people who write these articles can't get the facts and numbers straight. If this was an article about one of the top 25 teams I am sure the article would have gotten the numbers correct.

OK, rant over!!

We'd also have a loss in the tournament, so it would also depend on who that was to.
