He is smart, well spoken, objective and his current occupation puts him in front of coaches and recruiters every week. He was already scheduled to be at the AFCA meeting this week in Indianapolis and has a good network because of it. While I respect all the other players, they are not necessary to be put on search committee.

He will be objective and give a different perspective to make sure we get the right coach. Great move by Brian Mackin!

What is Izell's current occupation???

from wikipedia
Reese retired in 2005 and now is educating high school athletes and families across the country on the college recruiting process as an educational speaker for the National Collegiate Scouting Association.

After his NFL career, he was one of two founders of Rising Seniors. The organization's goal is to prepare upcoming seniors with athletic, academic and social development training that will help them maximize their potential in both athletics and life after football. Think of it like a athletic showcase with life skills training. He travels around the country to all Star games and has contacts at many universities.

Well can Izell coach, actually I didn't mean any or all former Blazers just a few coaches on the high school and college level.

Seems like having Izell on the committee is turning out to be quite a good thing.

I suspect that we have already had a lot of contacts about the job, possibly even a face to face discussion at this conference that has been mentioned.

Not my point. I've just always gotten the impression that Roddy is embarrassed that he played at UAB.

I also think that BigDee's post is ludicrous. Being a great player at UAB doesn't necessarily mean he should pick the next coach

Yeah, that's why he's still in contact with the AD, I guess. 03-shhhh

Oliver would be a candidate on the basketball side of things, probably not football.

Even now though, I would put Steve Mitchell on the selection committee first.

So Reese is believed to be in Indy, mackin in Bham, and Watts is back in town as well.

Interesting Reese and Clark(with a few assistants) are in Indy. Of course Reese as some said was already scheduled to be in Indy regardless of our coach situation.
