Sad Dick Miller passes away
Many will remember the former Rocket forward on the great Rocket teams of the mid-70 s. He passed away today at 55.

Oh my - Thats a young guy. I do remember him and those teams. Those UT teams were the first I had hear of UT and I often wondered why they were not good all the time.

sad loss. miller played a little in the nba and was as good a college rebounder as you could find.

Watched him and those great UT teams many times when they played in Kent and at UT. Miller was a really really tough guy!

Dick Miller lettered in basketball in 1977-80. He started all four years and played on two MAC championship teams and in two NCAA tournaments. Miller played on teams with a combined record of 87-26. He was co-captain of the 1979-80 team that reached the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" with dramatic upset of Big Ten co-champion Iowa. At the conclusion of his career, he stood 2nd in UT history in steals, 3rd in minutes played, 3rd in rebounds, 8th in assists, 8th in field goal percentage, 9th in games played, and 12th in scoring (1,266 points). He was first-team All-MAC and Academic All-America in 1980. He was an alternate on the U.S Pan-American Games team in 1979 and made the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1980. Miller played in the 1980 Aloha Classic; he was second-round NBA draft pick of the Indiana Pacers. Miller played professionally in the NBA with Indiana and Utah in 1980 and 1981 and later played professionally in Spain and England.

Did he play with Steve Mix, or was Mix earlier????? Mix killed Western for three years...

Mix played for Toledo in late 60's, so no, they were about a decade apart.
