End of discussion.

No.......the goal is to WIN a football title..........all teams play schedules. ECU has won TWO Cusa titles........Rice ONE Cusa title (Congratulations 2013).......Marshall NO Cusa football title.

Some of us are, but then as always someone wants to focus on 1/13th of a season as if nothing else matters, or bring up something from a decade or more ago.

Let make this simple for you.........Rice won its first Cusa football Championship this season (Congratulations). Marshall (NO Cusa Championships) or ECU (TWO Cusa Championships) did not win the football title this season. Question.....has UAB ever won a Cusa football Championship?

What does UAB's football history have to do Marshall, Rice and ECU? Marshall finished with the same number of wins and DESTROYED the Pirates head to head. They beat an AQ team in their bowl. Bringing up meaningless computer polls doesn't change the facts.

10-5 overall and 6-3 Cusa........History does make a program......one game can make a season.........Congratulations Rice.

RE: Final Coaches' Poll
I'm guessing both Marshall and ECU had similar (reasonable) goals this season:

-Win conference division
-Win conference title
-Win bowl game

To say that ECU had a better season than Marshall is laughable to everyone on the forum but ECU's troll idiot SJ. We beat ECU head-to-head. Had the best victory in the conference (maryland). Won the division championship and played for the title.

You are a goddamned idiot, SJ. If you don't believe me, go ask ANY non-ECU fan and see what they say.

...and a worse record with more losses, including to multiple teams we beat. Take your pick.

Quote:and DESTROYED the Pirates head to head.

You beat a ranked USM team when you were 3-9. Do you think that defined their season or made yours better because you were better one Saturday out of a dozen or more? Answer that, and you'll get your answer as to how important one game is to a season. We got the better sum according to the real people that judge. IE not you, me or Marshall fans.

Quote:They beat an AQ team in their bowl.

Yeah and we beat 2 on the road including a better one that is ranked higher.

Quote:Bringing up meaningless computer polls doesn't change the facts.

Meaningless as in the polls our conference officials endorsed to judge an entire overall season and that the NCAA uses to help decide their major bows and championship? Those meaningless polls created by PHD's and such that are paid to grade this debate out? Funny how just about the entire unbias world has us higher, the MWC thread liked us more, 10-3 is better, that's not even me saying it, but hey you got a UAB fan, and a few Marshall fans that don't get just about what everyone else knows about what the better season was.

only UAB didn't go on to win the division and win a bowl game over a P5 opponent did they? You're cherry picking (as usual) for the sake of your argument. Comparing what UAB did to USM a couple years back to what Marshall did to ECU, and went on to do isn't exactly fair.

The point is exactly the same. Either way all of that you mentioned is factored in. It's not my opinion either. It's the unbias educated PHD's work or work of people who's livings it is, or are entrusted with through their job, and endorsed by the governing bodies. Not me, not UAB or Marshall message board fans that judge this and give respect.

You think anyone nationally really respects even a championship much less a or one head to head matchup. If that was the case Rice would have more respect. They don't. Everyone that matters essentially all liked our season a hell of a lot more and that's undeniable nor is the fact our record was better.

Sure, I said the real polls were better than the preseason Phil Steele poll you guys were hyping, which was the context of that conversation. I actually respect the AP a little more and I think most of the nation does. Either way I like actually getting votes in both Major polls myself though and having a higher ranking in EVERY BCS computer poll there is (which CUSA endorsed for judging overall seasons), as well as just about any other poll you can find be it CBSsports, RPI, anyone of the hundred on Massey composite. Hey but to each their own. 10-3 sure feels better.

You know what's even better than polls to determine which team is better?

59-28

You're wasting your breath. Jonesy can argue that the Germans won World War II because their tanks had a better kill ratio.

3rd place CUSA East

I guess that's a great year when your program doesn't have much history. When is the last time ECU finished the season ranked? The '70s?

Yeah, I know. It's just fun antagonizing him. I'm actually surprised he got through the 59-28 sodomization without stroking out.

Enjoy looking up at us in just about every ranking you'll find of the ENTIRE season, with our shinnier record to boot because we could beat multiple teams you couldn't small fry. See your 25k looking D1aa program in the mirrior. You and UAB can have, and deserve each other.

Scoreboard, division standings, conference standings, perception to everyone except ECU fans . . .

I honestly don't think you could find one college football fan outside of Greenville who thinks ECU is better than Marshall, or had a better season. This guy is a 'tard. Glad they're making the lateral move over to the Atlantic or AAC or whatever it's called.

I'm not saying every ECU fan. Just one particularly obtuse one.

I've mostly got no beef with the Pirates. Jonesy lost me when he said UAB should have kept Mike Davis.

Twice in the 90's 1991 11-1 9th and 1995 23rd.07-coffee3

BTW, what does our bowl match up, (which we have zero control over) matter, sorry missing the context here. Oh, while I'm at it, it was Ohio and failed to mention that, wonder why............07-coffee3
