Two words capture this loss
Two words: no bigs.
Two more words: awful shots

Valentine wasn't the issue today.

RE: Two words capture this loss
The refs had nothing to do with this disaster of a game. It was just a matter of time until some stereotypical Memphis fan blamed the refs.

Correct. Little guards driving to the hoop, getting their shots blocked, and no fouls called. What happened to the new rules this year? This game was ref'd like it was last years rules...imo.

We outrebounded them 15-2 on the offensive glass in the second half, and 17-11 throughout the game.

Rebounding wasn't the determining issue, it was terrible shooting, shot selection and turnovers.

Ok im getting tired of yall blaming this on the refs. When the other team gets physical it isn't the refs job to save you. The Memphis players needed to man up and be physical back and they didnt

We're in the old Big East now...those refs aren't gonna make those new calls very often in conference play. This conference is known for physicality.

4 guards, none of which will be playing in the NBA.. In this day, you need future nba guys, and those never make it to senior status. Couple streaky, experienced, but not future nba guards, with no dominance in the post. And walaa! I'd like to introduce this years team. Sweet sixteen and this is a successful season. Please stop recruiting Memphis so heavily btw..

RE: Two words capture this loss
Refs told memphis to stand still and not box out....allow a cincy player to zip between two or three tigers and tally as many 2nd chance points as they'd like.

If the refs caused this then yeah blame them.

Missed shots.

Make more earlier and it opens things up for the bigs which opens things up agains for shooters and cutters.

There will be games where posting low and kicking out works...the idea winning is as simple as that- not so much.

If you're missing shots, make offensive adjustments, change your attack, drive the ball, put in 3 bigs, do something...Josh just doesn't do any of those things.

RE: Two words capture this loss
Run plays designed to cause switches and generate fouls. Heck, with FOUR guards out their bouncing the ball cincy bigs shouldve been in foul trouble all game attempting to defend the dribble.

No, we bounce the ball and jack 3s which they shot 2 for 20 or something. Great gameplan.
