This bothers me the most about the MC era. Why is this? Topic for it's own thread???
I was being sarcastic. Yancey got better over his 4 years. Mbodj made big strides between his junior and senior seasons. Ibrahima Thomas got better his senior year. Now Jackson appears to have taken a big step forward.

I heard on WLW from Dan that SMU is paying Larry Brown 2 Million, and his Asst Coach $700,000. Therein lies the rub?

The improvement of those first 3 players is very debatable (and has been been debated on this board ad nauseum). I'd also say that the jury is still very much out on JJ.

There is no debate about Yancey. After he had his final melt down he became a dominant player in the Big East tournament and was selected to the World Games. Mbodj and Thomas are different stories.

I agree on JJ. I love how he has been playing of late but the key for him is consistency over the course of the season. I'm definitely pulling for the guy to continue to bring it and improve his all around game.

Did Yancy improve? Yes. The problem was that he was barely scraping the surface of his capabilities at the end of his career. To me that was a much bigger failure than not improving.
Also we tend to ignore Gaines, Nyarsuk, and Adam H. A few guys that sure didn't show much in the way of improvement.

I'm wishing/hoping/praying that JJ will continue to contribute. But gun to my head, I don't see it happening.

Gaines is the only guy of those you mentioned that had 4 years & he battled injuries his whole career. You're reaching.

Adam was also one of the least athletic human beings I've ever seen. It looked like he was walking up and down the court throughout the games. I agree though, there really has been a steady mismanagement of post players at UC in the past decade or so.

I was curious how his stats compare to last year and through 14 games this year he has definitely improved across the board. I was thinking his FT% was a little better.
Season (GP)(MPG)(PPG)(FG%)(3FG%)(FT%)(APG)(RPG)(BPG)(SPG)
2013-14 (14)(26.7)(11.8)(53.9) (0.0) (52.9) (1.6) (7.7) (3.2) (1.8)
2012-13 (30)(18.8)(3.8) (41.8) (9.1) (51.2) (1.5) (5.1) (1.4) (1.0)

No it's not. If you don't think he is as good as he has showed in the last few games, that is understandable. But what isn't debatable is that JJ is substantially better this year. Night and day. Not even close.

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match. It definitely appears that JJ worked on some post moves in the offseason which I am happy about, however IMO increased production does not necessarily mean that JJ is VASTLY improved. Check out the roster, there is one guy on the team that can be counted on for points, and I'm not even sure about him. IMO JJ is scoring out of necessity, not because of some new found talent that some people actually think could get him into the NBA. If JJ was doing this last year with Cash and Parker still around I'd be much more impressed.
I didn't see many folks praising the guy before the last two games. Yes he has looked great the last couple games but some need to reign in their expectations. Nothing about Justin Jackson's game screams consistency. His game is as scattered as they come. You just have to hope that he can play out of his mind when he needs to, like Saturday.

Your point doesn't even make sense. He is scoring efficiently this year with an increased work load, posting a 112 O-Rating (100 is an average college player) using 24.4% of the possessions and playing 67% of the minutes.
Before this year, his highest O-Rating was 96, high highest usage rate was 18% of possessions and he had never played more than 52% of the minutes available.
It is harder to improve efficiency when your usage goes up. Not the other way around. The more that is asked of you, the more difficult it is to do things well. The fact that he is doing so well and playing more is just evidence he has improved.
Again, if you think he isn't as good as he has played the last 2 games, that is a totally reasonable point (because if he is actually that good he is one of the better players in the country). But if you think he hasn't improved, you have no clue what you are talking about.
