Watched and enjoyed that game very much! I'd forgotten that "Mean" Joe Greene was a grad of UNT, and was there to support the team, its' first bowl game in 10 years (you don't hear of anyone talking about shutting their program down), & he said it was as proud as he's ever been to be a part of North Texas with the win. It was important to the future of the program, and the team went out there and played like it was! I'm very happy for them and for their fans. Damn good first impression in their first season in Conference USA. Sure wish UAB would pull something off like this. Way to go, Mean Green! Y'all made "Mean Joe" a very happy man!

RE: HOD: UNLV vs. North Texas!!!
I had a great time at the game today. Very proud of my Mean Green. It was a perfect day. What a great end to our first season in C-USA. At least 35,000 of the 38,500 in attendance today were UNT fans. I'd love for North Texas to play in the HOD Kickoff Classic one season.

Looking toward the future, I think there is much for C-USA to be excited about. Four of our bowl teams, Marshall, North Texas, Rice, and MTSU all return next season. UTSA and FAU finished bowl eligible. WKU finished with the second best record in the Sun Belt and should be a player in the East. LA Tech, Southern Miss, and UTEP should all improve from this seasons records. I see a bright future for this new version of C-USA.

Happy New Year!

What a great game by UNT. I wish ours could have turned out like that.

Perhaps next year we will steal away a bid to the Music City Bowl. Now that would be a big draw... Whew!

From the Go Mean Green Board...

The Mean Green Nation showed up 35K strong today! Easily the largest collection of North Texas fans I've ever seen at a football game.

All of what he said, above. Other posters, on other boards, love to trash C-USA, but just don't listen to them. We are, proudly, who we are! C-USA is in great shape, and next year should be fun.

That pic just shows part of the 35K UNT fans. Many were even sitting on UNLV's side. On the UNT side Mean Green fans were beginning to over-flow into each end zone area.

Without a doubt, the Jolly Green Sleeping Giant is finally waking up in the North Texas Metroplex. Didn't know if I would live long enough to witness what I saw yesterday. It was for certain a good day to be Mean Green.

If we had had a P5 opponent from the Big 10 (per the HOD's actual agreement) it could have been a record setting HOD crowd since their schools infamously travel so well. NOTE: There were no Big 10 schools available mostly because Penn State is on probation.

Awesome job guys!

I hope you can use the momentum to increase home attendance next year. BTW, not a knock at all. I'm not even sure what you averaged, I just know I'm hoping for the same thing as a Marshall fan :)
