Even though UTSA went to the tourney last year and gave Oregon State a very good game, we didn't even get a mention. We have all of our pitching returning plus we added some more pitching. We are going to be very competitive but again we are overlooked just like our football team. Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas State and Sam Houston State get mentioned and we get left out. I guess we have to do it on the diamond and show all of the pundits that we have a pretty decent team.

Baseball, IMO is the one sport in college athletics with the most level playing field between P5 conferences and the rest. There a lot of good teams, some in the preseason get over looked, but there are about 50 preseason ratings. Based off last, IMO, I was surprised to see us in the top 40. But, we do have what is shaping up to be an expressive pitching staff this year. That features C-USA top pro prospect and possible first round pick pitcher in Jeff Hoffman.
Rice, well no surprise there, it's Rice and they are that good. Didn't see USM, yes they were down last year, but it's still surprising. C-USA has been a quote power conference in baseball since it started, but 2005 with Rice it only gotten better. C-USA is very good and hard to get through and take the top spot. Just look at the rankings of teams since 2005, the number of regionals and Super Regionals.

Agree. Baseball is truly the great equalizer when it comes to conference comparisons. Need proof? Just scan ESPN's pre-season 40. Plus it has the greatest playoff to determine the winner. Wish it got more attention in national sports coverage.

Nice to see Charlotte get some votes.
This should be a very interesting transition year back into C-USA.
We lose a weekend starter and our 4 yr starting third basemen to graduation and we lost another weekend starter and our best offensive player to the draft.
Recruiting has picked up since we announced we were moving back so I look for several young guys to get playing time this year.
We were able to get a transfer in this year, Ryan Butler, that has gained some attention from the scouts. He was drafted in the 18th round by the Yankees this year, but came to school instead. We will likely only have him for 1 year.
Can't wait for February 14 to get here, and I'm not talking Valentine's Day!!
