I'm pretty sure our group will get season tickets again, but unfortunately we'll probably be more excited about the tailgating than the actual games given the slate of opponents.

I guess I don't understand why you need to be bribed to attend a UC football game.

Go. Have a good time. It is only one year. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Personally, I don't need to be bribed and understand that the schedule is largely out of UC's control. Just my thoughts regarding the non die-hard UC fans out there.

Unfortunately, I considered this to be a wash. Figured just as many won't go downtown, as those that won't go to Clifton. IMHO both are silly, but people have their preferences.

Sounds as if I might be in the minority. I attend to watch UC and UC alone. Having a great opponent is icing on the cake for me. Having to attend PBS for a year is a necessary evil to get us a great looking/improved on campus stadium. My group will suck it up for a year. 2015 is going to be a special season.

Unlike Kc...I love Nippert, despise PBS...I'll be at every home game, regardless of opponent. Not looking forward to games at PBS next season , but the tailgating will be decent.

I dont hate PBS, but the environment there just screams Middle Aged Drunks, while Nippert has a truly homegrown feeling to it.

Nippert is Home. PBS is a concrete bowl sitting in the middle of parking lots next to an expressway.

I don't think they are a wash. Nippert for the most part has about 25K really hard core fans. Those 25K will go no matter where they are playing. Out of the other 5-10K, I don't think there are that many who would go only to a game at Nippert and not downtown. For the most part, they are people who are there for the event and not really the games. They are likely to be attracted to PBS because of the better tailgating and party atmosphere.

Love Nippert. I went there in 1955 as a 12 year old. Went during college years. Season tickets over 25 year at 45 yard line. I hate PBS. Harder to park, worse seats.

I go to see UC not the team they beat. 2015 will be great watching from the new pavilion.

See you in Charlotte.

The bad thing about the AAC is we used to go to WVU, Pitt and Loserville road games. Now the only road game might be USF or UCF on the way to Sarasota Condo.

Totally agree Sub. I am excited about what it could do for UC's program. I mentioned earlier that UC's AD needs to put on a full court press, "Come watch college football downtown at the Banks." Etc. Then hopefully some of the new fans will remain for the renovated Nippert.

This is a huge chance for some great exposure for UC football. they need to take full advantage.

RE: Future Football Schedule
I am interested to see how many weeknight home games UC has at PBS next season and how many weekends have both the Bengals and Bearcats at home.

Next season has to start with a conference game or two unless there is a bye in the first two weeks. One of those games has to be on the road.

This is true. I hate Nippert as do many of my friends. We're all buying season tickets for next season because its at PBS.

I can't imagine "hating" Nippert, but the bigger question is will you buy season tickets at the newly renovated Nippert going forward after PBS?

Subflea is right there are a number of people who will not come to Nippert. I know a number of people (either neighbors or co-workers) who haven't been to Nippert very often in the past decade or so. My boss, for instance, speaks fondly of Nippert. He agrees with me there is not a bad seat in the house and the atmosphere is wonderful at night--- he just has only been there twice in the past decade. When I ask him why he doesn't go to more UC games he just shrugs his shoulder and says he doesn't think about going. I think for many they are just conditioned not to come to campus.

This is the difference between nfl and college fans. College fans tend to regard atmosphere as a key component to their experience. nfl fans do not care if the stadium is a big concrete bowl with a very corp/sterile feel.

I've always enjoyed college, since typically no two stadiums are alike. Some are within the heart of campus, which lends itself to that collegial feel.

In the end, I am a UC fan - I'll watch them play in The Nip, plastic PBS, or a parking lot in Xenia.

RE: Future Football Schedule
It would be great to set up a travelling "preview pavillion" @ PBS for UC games next season so "new" fans could see how Nippert will create a unique game day experience. That obviously would have to be mobile but could become an attraction all year long at big local high school football games, Riverfest, Kings Island, etc.

Make it interactive with some computer generated views into the new Nippert--perhaps even a select/purchase a seat opportunity with a vitual view from your section and row. Include some historical notes and artifacts. Then sell some tickets wherever the show goes in 2014. And raffle some off for free to build traffic to the exhibit.

Let's create some excitement. How often does our city open a "new" 40,000 + seat venue? We need to celebrate it and in the process build the fan base.

I cannot remember where but I heard Navy would open The New Nippert. We need the following for a proper opening:

1. Navy as opponent
2. Blue Angel fly over
3. Parachute jumpers
4. More fireworks than normal
5. A sellout crowd
6. UC 40 Navy 17

What else?

Miami of Ohio is a local rival = 33,000
Toledo is a regional team and will travel well with the hope of seeing an upset = 33,000
USF is a former Big East conference foe, we love to beat them = 33,000
ECU has a crazed fanbase and wants to take UC out in a big way, they will probably bring 6,000 fans to Cincinnati
Memphis will be well represented
Houston. OK its Houston.

Our average attendance this year was 31,771 (9% increase) and I see about that or a little more next year.

If we go 7-1 in our conference, beat OSU or Miami, Fl and beat both Miami,OH and Toledo we go to the Access bowl next year.

Love your optimism....and probably whatever you're drinking.

Miami, Toledo, USF, Memphis and Houston will have less than 500 fans in attendance, probably closer to 200 except for Toledo. ECU may bring 1,000 - they do have great attendance at home, but not too many folks will be making the trip up from Greenville especially if the game is in November. And Miami may bring less than 50.

So it will all be on UC fans. Students will have to commit to attending the entire game since they will be busing down and back from PBS. Other than Louisville, they did not like staying after halftime.

With no Purdue or Louisville type game, the interest will be down. 25,000 per game would be a good average. Even 30,000 will look poor in that giant stadium. Again, either sell only one side of the stadium, or don't sell a single ticket in the upper levels until all lower levels are sold out.

I do have faith in the UC Ticket office to do some creative selling. They will have to pull out all the stops for next season.

Toledo has brought more than 500 to away games @FIU and UF. A Saturday game would insure a good Toledo turnout.
