Good news! There is a bus to the bowl. Bad news. It leaves from cities in AL, TN, and AR. http://www.bowlbus.com

I will be interested in how the school sections are laid out. Just got our 9 tickets and see that they are in Sec 105 but Row 84 out of 90! The seating chart for the Liberty Bowl has some Box Seats near the field and then the rows of regular seats start out with Row 21. Either Rice was given only the upper rows or a heck of a lot of people bought tickets before I did or donated a ton of money.

I think we were given only upper rows, but who knows. I won't know our 15 block of seats until I pick them up at the team hotel next Monday. I'm hoping the ticket office was prudent enough to seat all those Rice fans buying tickets close together (as opposed to spread out across the allotted block of seats, which it appears we'll only use/sell less than half the allotted 10,000.

I'm curious where student tickets will be. We pick them up at will call, so that students can sit with their friends (and we assume, all together), but no indication as to where they will be.

Last year, they were spread around in pockets. We got seats together with the groups we went in with, but were not all together on the whole. If you were at the UT game at Reliant in 2010, it was like that. I would guess that will likely be the case again this year.

I'll trade as I am 3 rows behind you.

Strange that they left out Miss. St., who supposedly sold out their 10,000 allotment over a week ago...and were given another 5,000 - 10,000.

Interesting that Vanderbilt sold out its allotment after much gnashing of teeth from its fans about its "demotion" to the Compass Bowl. Bravo to them for taking the slight literally and shoving it back in the SEC's face by selling out their allotment. That's easily the most impressive amongst the teams above, IMO. The rest are either a) playing in big time bowls, b) are large state schools c) a close drive away. Vanderbilt is neither of the first two, although it is only a 3 hour drive away from Birmingham, so I guess c) could be true for them. Still, it's in Birmingham against a non P-5 conference school, so it's not like there are a lot of externalities going for it. We're playing in a city with a vibrant entertainment district, on New Year's Eve, against a school from the current best conference in college football (albeit a school that is probably in the bottom tier of historical football success in its conference). Hopefully we'll take a lesson from them and apply it to future bowl games.

Even though I will be out of the country for the game, based on the impression I got from the thread, I bought a donation ticket. Would be good to get an official update soon on numbers in case a wider push needs to be made to push to our alumni base to ensure this doesn't leave either a bad impression or turn into a money loser. Rice may be small but our alums do have deep pockets.

Yes just wondering....does anyone know how many tickets have been sold? You also have to keep in mind there are over 100 players on the roster (all get to go I believe) and each player gets 4 tickets! I'm sure most will be used. If a player doesn't use their 4, they typically give them to another player. Therefore we can add in another 400 fans!!

Article in today's Tennessean shows Mississippi State with 16,560 tickets sold.
I do not have a subscription, but there appears to be an some articles on McHargue and Gaines in the Commercial Appeal.
