Why would we be underdogs?

They're ranked higher than us on KenPom, and lately it seems that the opening lines are pretty much in line with Pomeroy's numbers and predictions.

I bet we'll open as a 0.5 to 1.5 point underdog, but that's just a hunch.

They will probably be ranked higher than us in the AP later today. I expect that the line will open a 1 and move up to 3 or so.

I agree. We showed in the Old Spice that we play better when we work inside out. It opens things up for the guards to drive and get things going.

P.S. Don't mind Stammers. Only thing bizarre is his haircut.

Thanks Stammers I knew it made sense and I'm not comparing the Tigers to other teams on 3's per game..I'm talking running it thru the post before we do anything else which was proven to be effective against OSU..you want to get technical how about long 2 pointers then with toe on the line..

The guards tried to do too much in Oklahoma State I; no question, but that game was an aberration. Other than that, the decision making has been very good. Being balanced and throwing the ball inside makes a lot of sense. Ideally, we should be shooting (and making) more 3's.

We haven't repeated the bad behaviour from that game, and our guards haven't repeated their 23.5% shooting percentage either. Like I said, it was an aberration.

I would expect that if the same tendencies occur; that the coaching staff will be able to recognize it quickly; will know what to tell the players, and will be able to make adjustments.

Marcus Smart does not play for Florida; and Florida doesn't have anyone that will go crazy on us.

I didn't get to watch the UALR game but I did hear that we played that way in the 1st half. We will have to guard Florida on the perimeter, they have some pretty good shooters..

I think FLA -3 or 4 will be the opening line and it will go higher before tip. The perception across the county is still that Memphis bombs when we play a ranked team and 1 win over OK St wont change that.

Fla's bigs are more physical and probably more talented than ours. The guards are probably a wash and depending on which team's guards play better, that's where the game will be decided. I don't know if we are a consistent enough 3 pt shooting team to win. Just hope a couple of the guards (looking at you Clutch) gets hot from 3.

I can see us winning an extremely tight game and I can also see us losing by 15+

I do, I do, me, me, me! I still don't see Florida as doing much, sure they beat KU, but at this point who hasn't besides Duke. As others have suggested on this board, I'm of the opinion that the team and Pastner have been expending most of their energies preparing for this game over the last week - 10 days. I'mma homer & I just can't hep myself!

RE: Who thinks we will win Tuesday night ?
I think the big spotlight of the Jimmy V, MSG, etc., will rattle everyone a little at first. If they can get past that, and we calm down & move the ball, I think we can win.

If we get flustered if they go on an early run, and we start jacking up shots as soon as we get down the court, it will be a long night.

I'm a little nervous, but not like I was with OK State. Florida is beatable, as long as we don't beat ourselves.

If Shaq comes out and has 2 quick scores with a beaming smile on his face, we win. That's my prediction.

What if he comes out with 2 quick fouls and has a frowny face? Keeping Shaq out of foul trouble will be key.

Who; the guy from France? Patric Young is built like Tarik Black, and doesn't rebound as well as Tarik did last year. Finney Smith weighs 212 pounds. We average 6 rebounds per game more than Florida does.

Quote:The guards are probably a wash

Maybe so; but I'll take our 4 against their 4. Wilbekin has only played 4 games and Hill has only played 1 game in the last month; and was a non factor against Kansas. Florida is a great matchup for us.

Florida has a nice win against Kansas; but we are catching them at the right time. They are going to be great by the end of the year.
