Not sure how common this is but it seems pretty lame to me. The guys that endured this season and the last 4 deserve better. I just think it's sad but to be honest, I'm not surprised.

Your right but recognizing the guys on the team that achieved accolades whether athletic or academic and the seniors that have devoted the last four years to this program seems in order. Lots of bad seasons before this one haven't kept it from happening.
I think it's in bad taste but we're all entitled to our opinion.
Hey, maybe it'll motivate the guys for next year, like kicking off both halves.

Only in years where we kicked off all conf WRs and the ball to start both halves.

Should there be a banquet? yes. Should anybody receive awards? idk.

The awards are secondary to paying tribute to the players. Maybe this is another one of those changing the culture things.

Is this a financial issue?

Yeah that is true. All seniors were recognized on senior day.

Every team that I've ever heard of - been around has a banquet. Pee Wee, middle school, high school, college, etc. This includes some real stinkers of teams. There are always good highlights – although they may be few sometimes. I just hope the good is recognized properly. If not – it will be detrimental.

When I played all seniors were given their jersey in a very nice shadow box. Last year they got a picture in a plastic frame. This year they don't even get a banquet. That's pretty sad. McGee talks a big game, but his actions tell me he doesn't have what it takes to be head coach.

If this is true, and it probably is, the person responsible needs a swift kick to the gonads. These Seniors have worked too hard, and been through so much (underclassmen too), that it is totally unconscionable on UAB's part not to have a football banquet. Like the poster above stated, even bad HS teams/teams on just about every level have them...........of course, bad HS teams have their own stadiums too, but I'll leave that one for another day.

The results (or lack of them) on the field, the way he has handled his coaching staff (maybe we can rob R-KANSAS for some more GA's!/DC blank stare's), to the way he has handled his QB's (getting an injured/one legged Brown killed vs Memphis instead of playing Perry), kicking his star WR off of the team in favor of an ineligible transfer that got into trouble at his previous team, getting drop-kicked 62-27 by an 0-23 team on your home field, etc., etc,.......screams he doesn't.

there has to be more to this story? right?
