+1

The only difference is I don't see any Cinderella in college football running a playoff bracket

The difference for non AQ is the depth and to go back to back against BCS powerhouses is going to wear down a team

I can see one upset but if don't ever see a Non AQ making it to final four or championship

And Ohio st is overrated but I still think they beat us! It's common sense with this defense and letting Idaho, BGSU score over 30! OSU could score 40 easily

so you play a 12 game schedule, then maybe an additional 6 games to win it all. Ain't gonna happen

with a 16 team, that's 4 games if you make it to the championship. 64 teams is way too crazy for football.

I would say 2 OOC game, 8 conference games. Only 10 reg-season games. BUT, an additional end-of-season OOC "bowl" matchup for those who have at least 4 wins (4-6).

6 Rounds in a 64-team field

# of Games in Season:
10 : Those lower than (4-6) or who opt out of OOC/Bowl game
11 : Teams 4-6+ who opted for OOC/Bowl game OR made it to playoffs.
12 : Teams who played in conference championships OR won-1stR
13 : Teams who played in con-champ+won-1stR OR got to Sweet16
14 : Teams who played in con-champ+Sweet16 OR go to Elite8
15 : Teams who played in con-champ+Elite8 OR go to Final4
16 : Teams who played in con-champ+Final4 OR go to Nat-Champ
17 : Teams who played in con-champ+Nat-Champ

Week 1: Aug 31
Week 2: Sept 7
Week 3: Sept 14
Week 4: Sept 21
Week 5: Sept 28
Week 6: Oct 5 (Bye week for various teams on one of these)
Week 7: Oct 12
Week 8: Oct 19
Week 9: Oct 26
Week 10: Nov 2
Week 11: Nov 9
Week 12: Nov 16 (Conf-Champ Week)
Week 13: Bye, Poor-Man Bowl Selection, Setups of Playoffs, etc.
Week 14: Nov 27-30 (Playoff 1st Round)
Week 15: Dec 4-7 (Playoff 2nd Round)
Week 16: Dec 12-14 (Bowl/Extra-OOC games 1; Non-Playoff teams)
Week 17: Dec 19-21 (Playoff Sweet 16)
Week 18: Dec 26-31 (Bowl/Extra-OOC games 2; Non-Playoff teams)
Week 19: Jan 1-2 (Playoff ELITE 8)
Week 20: Jan 11 (FINAL FOUR)
Week 21: Jan 18 (NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP)

Plenty of rest & RR for those who have to extend out in the playoffs.

Those who don't make the playoffs? Less games (11 if you're close to .500; 10 if you went less than 4w). Those who make it and go far? More games, but stretched out with byes and gaps.

RE: 64 Team Play Off (Make This Happen)
I thought of something different. Although a 64-team playoff IS do-able, having 10 regular season games is a game too shy. Plus, we could throw something else in there. For all who say "A huge playoff leads to injuries" -- all you're doing is extending it for SOME teams, and with enough byes & gaps of days in between -- it'll be JUST fine + shorter than the NFL season, even with 64. BUT, is 64 realistic?

In football, a #16 team beating a #1 -- would never come Close to happening in football, where in basketball, it RARELY comes close for just the 1st half.

48-team Playoff
- Top 16 teams get a bye
- The other 32 play 1st round to get the better 16 teams to face against the Top 16
- This makes entering into the tourney not going to the slaughter-house so much for the bottoms; keeps things interesting for fans
- All Conference Champs Go (obviously) [10]
- All Conference Division winners of BCS Conferences Go [4] (B10, PAC12, ACC, SEC)
- 3 Conference 2nd Place/Division winners of "G5" Conferences Go [3] (MAC, MW, CUSA, SUNB, AAC)
* NIU, Marshall, Louisville (yes, assuming AAC is non-bcs/g5 this year)
- 2 FCS schools undefeated in FCS schedule and only 1 loss max, to a .500+ BCS conference team or Top 25 BCS team
* North Dakota State, Eastern Illinois

Regular Season would be 11 games, so FCS would end up being able to POSSIBLY send 1 or 2 teams in.

I think that would be great. But I'd settle for a 32-team playoff.

16-team playoff is OKAY, but still unsatisfying.

If it was top 48 or 64 then you have average teams in the playoffs which is absurd!

I think 6-6 bowl teams is ridiculous as well

You need to earn your right for playoffs

The most I could see is

Top 24 ranked teams get a playoff!

That simple or do conference champs (8 conferences)not sure if that's wrong # of conferences

Then have the next top 8 after conference champs (16 team)

Nothing over 24 team or that adds too many games (risks too many injuries)

Football is played on the field, not on paper. Anything can happen, depending on how motivated the team is, good coaching, excellent execution and Lady luck plays a helpfull role in close games.

Here is an example of a Div1aa Cinderella story , regarding a school which is now a familiar name in the MAC.
http://www.umasshoops.com/features/footballchamps1998/

11th-seeded Massachusetts upset top-ranked Georgia Southern (official and fan sites) 55-43 for its first Division I-AA championship Saturday.

I'd be happy with every conference champ being put into a playoff. Wanna get in? Win your conference. This would never happen, but I like it. I also realize the flaws in it, but I don't care.

Love it, make it happen! Maybe 10 bowl games for those in the outside...
