NYC here I come!! Thanks to the coaches teammates and media relation couldn't of did it wt out them!

Excellent:

Thank-you to all the NIU fans, this board and other fans who not only voted for him daily, but campaigned for him online.

This is a first for NIU and the MAC I believe.

A major barrier has been broken.
It means millions of dollars worth of free publicity and should help recruiting very much.

Congratulations to all the fans on this board and Toledo fans who voted for him and helped win the fan ballot of 6 votes.

Seriously though...this is an AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT!!

Congrats to JL.

Redwingtom, were you at the game in Detroit? A huge number of BGSU fans were chanting "No more Heisman" when it became obvious that NIU had lost.

Do they even REALIZE what Lynch going to NYC and being a Heisman finalist means for the MAC? It helps ALL of the schools in our conference & maybe someday our conference will be taken seriously.

Yes I was at the game...and so what?

BG fans also realized what thumping your asses meant for the conference too.

BG fans were also chanting "overrated" which actually diminishes BG's accomplishment of thumping your asses.

The point...fans say stupid things...now move along. 04-cheers

But you can't argue that Lynch's only shot at "winning" the Heisman was to have a WMU type game and BG squelched that which clearly led to the chant. Now if they chanted "No More Heisman Finalist Appearance in New York for Lynch" you might have a point....of course that might have been a tough one to coordinate. 03-lol

I really had no issues with the "chants". It's part of the fun. They weren't "in your face idiots" like Iowa etc...

They won the MACC.
They defeated an undefeated team.
They defeated a team that would have been in a BCS Bowl.
They defeated a team with a Heisman worthy QB.

A huge night for their program and I imagine we would have had fans/students doing similar. Saw nothing post-game that was out of line.

Lynch wasn't going to win the Heisman anyway with the game Winston put up.

Lynch's only shot of winning the Heisman was in the hands of the DA's office in Tally. Fridays game didn't matter.

BG fans have the utmost respect for NIU and what they have accomplished the last few years, and are certainly envious. There was not one iota of actual harm intended in the chants. It's just part of being a fun living fan when your team wins...nothing more. Anyone pushing an other agenda is wound way too tight.

Were they throwing beer bottles at NIU fans like they did back in 2003?

Not sure why anyone would be offended or take a crowd chant seriously unless it is outright offensive. It's all in good fun.
