Quote:"The Sun Belt Conference Presidents and Chancellors authorized me two weeks ago to use Sun Belt funds at my discretion to entice both bowls to take a Sun Belt team. As a result, the Sun Belt made very significant financial offers to both bowls that clearly exceeded anything the Sun Belt has done in previous years."

just now, britton banowsky smote himself on the forehead and yelled, "of course! why didn't I think of that!"

How much $$$ does the Sun Belt have for this sort of purpose?

so wait a minute... you're paying bowls to take you, and .. uhm... you're going to get what? More expenses for your school? And not a full payback of your bribery?

And the SunBelt fans wonder why we laugh at Benson?

without hitting this one too hard, 6-6 wasn't going to get it done this year. the only legit screwjob in the sunbelt looked like it may have been wku at 8-4.

that's a pretty good record to sit at home with.

Agreed.

I know there were some unusual circumstances, but I still can't get over LT sitting home last year at 9-3.

Last bowl-eligible team Tulane had that didn't get to play in a bowl was a 7-4 team in 1997. There weren't as many bowl-games back then (20) but it still hurt to get left out.

How about advertisement for one. More than that do you want to be the 8-4 team and sitting home? I can't even imagine how schools would uses that on the recruiting trail against WKU if they were still there. It's still going to be used against the Sun Belt's other schools you can believe that. Throwing out some money this time might not have been the worst for a league trying to gain some traction and that doesn't need anymore marks against them like this.

6-5 Tulane in 2000 sat at home.

That was Louisiana Tech's own fault.

Not even Bobby Petrino could get Western Kentucky into a bowl. That's 2 years in the last 3 that they've been left out. 03-lmfao

No way would I make this public. Peanut strikes again.

Words like Sunbelt can't even buy a bowl game have been slung around.

That is one reason WKU fans are very happy to be moving to CUSA.

I am not sure if I understand your emoticon.

Are you laughing at the poor reputation of the SBC which kept an 8-4 out of the bowl picture?
Or, are you happy that WKU did not get a bid?
Or, are you happy Bobby P's team did not get a bid?
Or, are you happy that UAB will never have to experience what WKU did, because UAB will never win 8 games?

Exposure for the league? That would be my guess.
