RE: Rod Carey Exposed
So we get a solid coaching staff who can actually prepare the team and win big games, we win 1 maybe 2 maccs and heck throw in a bowl game. But then right when we are on the berth of something big the staff will just get pillaged in two years and its back to square one.

Its not necessarily back to sqare one, but it is without a doubt a few steps back from full potential.

Your statement is not accurate due to the successful transition between Kill/Doeren/Carey.

But if Doeren was here for the OB and our 2012 OC didnt bolt for Wisconsin would it have been different? Maybe.

Which is better than what we went through this year. Don't you agree?

Last year was as good as it gets for NIU. We should aim for that every time. Instead - mark my words - we will be lucky to be in Mobile next year.

Make it to Mobile next year and it will be a successful season. Breaking in a first year QB is tough.

Jeff Compher was a slacker and did the easiest thing and promoted Carey and left. Thanks for nothing.

Wasn't DD's recommendation of RC a big part of that...?

His reco should not have mattered. He was too busy finalizing a new contract with a new school.

So you guys think bringing in an entire new staff with new systems wins 12 games this year, eh?

Not a chance.

RE: Rod Carey Exposed
I think you have to stick with Carey and the system. We are far from being in a position for a massive rebuild and the cupboard is still stocked. We bring back almost the entire offense and while losing Lynch hurt there is plenty of talent to surround whoever wins the QB job. We don't need one guy to be the man next year, I expect a much more balanced attack which might not be the worst thing as it will keep defenses more honest.

NIU went 500 against winning teams this year (minus the FCS win) And that was with Lynch & he is very good. I am really wondering about Carey right now. Damn it, why didnt he make any half time adjustments?

Also Carey is his buddy. He would certainly put in a good word for him because of that.
