The guy who was 0-10 with an INT in the spring game? I hope he got a LOT better since that performance.
This is my thinking as well.
Say what you will, but I'm saying he starts. He won the job in the fall and it is his to lose next year (and he won't lose it).
Are you saying Briscoe won the job in the fall? How exactly did he win the job this fall when he was 4th on the depth chart during fall camp and wasn't practicing during the season because of shoulder surgery? Maybe he will start, maybe he won't. What is
certain is nobody knows that right now - including the head coach.

Patrick Thomas, JUCO QB from Georgia...maybe.
I'd say a JUCO guy or AB will end up with it.

I didn't necessarily say anything about Fall Camp did I?
Briscoe will start. Just mark it and come back and tell me I'm a moron if I'm not right next season.

That was the case as soon as JP became the starter again.
You don't bench an experienced upperclassman for a freshman unless you think that freshman is the future QB of your team. You don't then bench than freshman in favor of the benched senior the next season unless that QB is no longer the future. Especially when you started him over JP to the point of him being the walking dead with his immobility...get drilled play after play. He pretty much trashed that first season to keep Austin Brown out there for experience...you don't just abandon that unless he's no longer the direction you are going to go in the future.

Yep. That's why I think we are looking for a JUCO guy (i.e. Pat Thomas). If the JUCO guy comes in and busts or gets hurt, then AB will be able to regain the spot. Otherwise, it'll be the JUCO guy.
Briscoe is an oddity. He was a 4-star QB committed to Baylor and carrying offers from a lot of major programs. Then, all of a sudden, no one wanted him. Throw in a surgery, and he is a mystery. If he pans out, great, but I doubt McGee is banking on him for next season.

I would be shocked if Brown stays. I wouldn't want to play for McGee anymore if I were him.

That makes perfect sense, but every time I try to predict what McGee will do, I'm wrong.
I could see McGee getting halfway through the season and saying, "Holy ****! We better win some of these games NOW." and put Perry back in, with no long-term implications for Brown.

Well, demanding to play Baseball and Football both can turn some coaches away.

Same thing with Josh Greer. Georgia State and FIU are recruiting Greer out of JUCO.

Exactly, look at Winston for FSU. Turned other big schools away when he said he wanted to play another sport.

De'runnya Wilson - a Freshman WR & Small Forward at M$U- Wanted to play both. And UAB football was in on him pretty good from what I hear. It never was clear to me which coach said no, (and it could have been both) but my money is on McGee. It would have been a free player for Coach Hasse's squad.

My question still stands. How did he win a job this fall when he was limited at best? He might be the starter next fall. There is no way in the world you can know for certain at this point if he will be the starter. He has talent and it may come true that he starts, but you do not know that right now. You said early in the thread that "Briscoe was always the plan and will start." Did you get that directly from McGee or someone on the staff because I never recall any of them saying that publicly.

Just playing DA here but in answer to your question busch, he could have won in it the fall by the play (or lack thereof) of those ahead of him namely AB? McGee has seen 2 yrs of AB playing & found out he's got to look elsewhere for the starter

Briscoe will start. I'm not going to spill all the business out here. I have 85% confidence that he's the starter next year. That's not my opinion. I don't know the other QBs' game well enough to make an opinion.
