Hey guys, maybe this is staring us right in the face. The Houston fans have all but filled the utter lunatic, ridiculously annoying fans you love to hate void we've had since West Virginia left for the Big 12...

It's funny. UofL doesn't even consider UC their biggest rival. Their biggest rival is UK. With UC being a very close second. Reminds me of the Bengals. They think their biggest rival is Pittsburgh, however, Pittsburgh considers their biggest rival Baltimore.

If we played osu every year, they would be our biggest rival, followed by UL.

You guys would have plenty of in-state rivals (Bowling Green, Miami, Ohio U, Kent State, Toledo and Akron) and all of your conference games would be within driving distance. They would LOVE to have you.
24-17 - I'll update this after we wipe the floor with you intramural bball team this winter.

Hells no. I refuse to dignify Houston with any sort of recognition that they are worthy of being considered our equal. Ditto with Memphis State College.
Let Houston have their rivalry with Tulsa. That's the only reason Tulsa got invited to this party... Houston needed a date and Tulsa got the pity invite.
SMU<--->Tulane
Houston<--->Tulsa
I say if we have to develop a rivalry with anyone, I say we hook-up with Temple.
1) Both are urban schools in pro-sports cities.
2) Both are traditional basketball schools.
3) We have O$U, Temple has StatePenn, crapping on us.
Hell, there is everything to build a rivalry on.

... And best of all we wouldn't have to put up with idiots like you!
But no. Sadly for Coog fans...and you Cougar King... we're going to have to dominate this dumpster fire until and unless we're picked to go play with your old friends in the B12... But until then, we'll have to settle for being the prettiest girl not invited to the dance.
But at least we KNOW that we're in line ahead of the skanky old cougars.

You actually raise a very good point. UC's profile today is pretty much in line with Temple from academics, endowment, research, campus life, etc. Memphis truly is a commuter school-- a term thrown around by fans of schools in P5 conferences. They have next to no campus life. They can not even crack the top 200 in the US News Report (making WVU look like Harvard) and their endowment is less than $200M. Houston is closer to UC and Temple than Memphis, but they are still probably near a decade away from getting to where we are today in terms of research, endowment and alumni support.

Life would be so much easier if I got to live in whatever fantasy world Cougar King lives his life in... perpetual denial.

In conference, I do see Temple, Memphis, and UConn as our strongest rivals. USF in football also.

RE: After This Year, Who is Going to Be Our New Rival?
For Football, from a geographic perspective, it's either Memphis or East Carolina, but for competing for championships, I can see UCF, East Carolina and Houston. Hopefully, SMU, USF and UConn will improve to the point where they'll be in the mix.
For basketball, it's Memphis, Temple and UConn, as they'll all be competing with us for championships.

This isn't really a UC problem. It's a college football problem. Rivalries are dying and starting over all across the country. It is just now hitting home for us.
