Welcome to the Big East board there Winged Eagle, OG Eagle or whatever the hell you'll be calling yourself next week. I would like to say it was nice of you to stop by then I would be lying. Instead I'll invite you to take a good look around because this place is as close as you and your program will ever get to a BCS conference.
Go ahead and post the same tired old lines, like the one above, add a few emoticons and crawl back under whatever rock you call home to await the opportunity to do the same thing again in another thread. (Thats the part where you post something about the 18-8 series record between USM and Louisville and post a few more emoticons like that really matters to anyone in college football but a few USM fans with nothing else to celebrate.) Anyway this is the part where I usually unload on your trailer-dwelling, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, sister shagging ass, tell you all the things your momma has done that you didn't know, pat you on your little head and send you home with that just pumped look on your face but that would be too easy and a waste of time. Instead I'm going to proceed to show you how far off the college football map you and what was once a nice little program, that would play "anyone, anywhere, anytime...just don't expect us to win", has slipped.
In the first four years of CUSA your Eagles were good only losing 2 league games. Since 2000, however, the Eagles have won 1 league title, has been to the Liberty Bowl once, the now defunct Houston Bowl and two the New Orleans Bowl twice to face the Champion of the Sun Belt. How proud you must be of your Eagles beating up on North Texas and Arkansas State.
Also note that another Big East member, Cincinnati, laid the worst league loss at home on you when they spanked your Eagles 52-24
My Cardinals, on the otherhand, have played in 2 GMAC Bowls, 2 Liberty Bowls and a Gator Bowl. While it's true we didn't get to play the powers of the Sun Belt, we did get to face nationally ranked BYU, Boise State, Miami of Ohio and Virgina Tech.
Our conference champion, WVU, just beat the champ of the SEC, Georgia, in the Sugar Bowl while your conference champ, Tulsa, a team from the WAC that came in and took over where Louisville left off, just beat another team from the WAC in the Liberty Bowl. I realize that this was all last season so lets talk about the coming year.
In preseason polls the Big East has at least two teams in ranked in the Top 20 in EVERY poll. In some polls the Big East has two teams in the Top 10. Funny I don't see USM listed anywhere near the Top 25. As a matter of fact I've seen USM ranked as low as #70
out of #119 programs.
The purpose of my post has been to show you how stupid your comments about the Big East truly are. They have not been an effort to show how much CUSA football has slipped which is not the case. When CUSA started USM was the best team in the league, unfortunately, your Eagles didn't improve while the rest of the league did and has. CUSA is a fine league and will most certainly place a team in the BCS this fall.I just don't believe it will be USM.
Bottomline is Louisville beat your program 3 straight and moved on. Cincinnati ***** slapped your program giving USM it's worse CUSA home loss ever and moved on. Memphis has beat your Eagles two straight and UAB has beat them 5 straight. My point is EVERYONE has improved but USM. Perhaps your Eagles should look for a " small least lite bush league" to compete because CUSA is just too powerful for them.
Now let me pat you on your head. There doesn't that feel better. Now run along tell your Mom I said "hi".
