The Pac-12, SEC, ACC, and Big 10 have two teams in BCS bowls. If for some odd reason NIU chokes next week would it be possible for them to fall to 17th and Louisville move up to 16th and get a BCS bid?

It could get interesting if Baylor loses to Texas and NIU loses. Louisville might be the next in line

If NIU loses, I think Oregon takes that spot.

Louisville needs to reach 14th to be eligible for a BCS spot. The computers don't even have them ranked so it's highly doubtful.

I was hypothesizing that Louisville could potentially pass Oregon with a good showing against Cincy and help from voters which they have had all year long.

1 PAC-12 & 1 B12, right?

it may wind up having to be a 2nd Big 12 team if Okla St beats Okla, and Texas beats Baylor- along with the necessary NIU loss. Baylor may get out of the top 14 and I don't think Texas gets in there.

Also- Louisville would have to get up to the top 14 to get into consideration- not top 16.

Tell me how it works that MSU gets the Rose Bowl as the B1G runner up, but Eastern division winner Mizzou doesn't get a BCS bowl? Aren't they the runner up SEC team? Why Alabama in the Orange?

2 things in play.
1st off- it's bowl choice. If Wisconsin hadn't lost this weekend, Rose could have taken either Wisconsin or Michigan St.
2nd off- Alabama likely will be either 3 or 4 and the highest at large. That is automatic. This is from the 1st BCS. Kansas St lost final day of the season, finished 3rd, and didn't make the BCS. Tehy put in a rule the following year for the top at large team if they are 3-4- became automatic. It's how in 2004, Texas went to the Rose instead of Cal(4 vs 5).

Because the B1G would be placing a team in the BCS title game, so Rose Bowl gets to pick a replacement, and the assumption is that they will take another B1G team.

Also, only two teams from a conference are allowed to be picked - Auburn (if they win) and Alabama are the projected picks - so if you are mad at anything, it should be that Alabama would be picked over Mizzou as the second SEC team.

Just beat Auburn, and not worry about it.

Or be mad at the SEC, because the conferences originally pushed for the BCS rule that limits the BCS bowls to a max of two teams from any one conference. They did that to protect the money they get from their other bowl ties, which they keep all to themselves; for example, the BCS limit allows the SEC and Big Ten to guarantee to the Cap One Bowl that the bowl will never get less than the third choice from each league.

I hope everything falls the right way and Texas plays NIU in the Fiesta. I saw what BYU did to the Texas defense and NIU will tear them up. Would be a great 1st blow-out BCS Bowl win for the MAC. Lynch way better than BYU's Hill and he rushed for 260 on Texas.

Anyone who has followed NIU through decades of failure must absolutely relish the attention this fantastic group of kids has earned. This has been a great decade for NIU which, hopefully, we will continue with a win on Friday and another BCS game. This can't be regarding last year because Kansas St lost to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl....
