I don't know much about Miami, but I feel as though you'd need an unstable ACC for them to switch. As for Tech, there is a great deal of animosity betwwen that school and the SEC that it would require the ACC losing P5 status for them to come crawling back to the conference they once called home.
Clemson would have joined. Not sure about FSU. FSU chose not to in the 90s. The President made disparaging comments in 2010 about the SEC. Depends on the $ projections and their certainty in those projections. I suspect the projections would have made enough sense to move for FSU. The SEC is the only conference that really makes sense for them geographically.
I'm not so sure Clemson would have. They value the history they've had in the ACC.
Clemson and FSU would have joined the SEC faster than an ACC fan could pull the thumb from their mouth.
You're entitled to your opinion. I think FSU would take the invite, but Clemson I'm still not sure. They were the top dog in the conference before FSU showed up. In the ACC Clemson is special, in the SEC they're just like everyone else. The only special program in the SEC right now is Bama.

By "not much else" you mean: 5 national championships.
Yeah Army and Navy have national championships too. I don't see anybody begging to get them.
So, in your world, Miami = Florida Atlantic. Good luck to you in convincing everyone to agree with that.

I agree with that statement.
I also think before you see any teams moving between the SEC and the ACC you would see some sort of more formal arrangement. Neither conference has done anything overtly negative to the other conference in 80 years and because of the regional imbalance between revenue sports (Weak SEC basketball/Strong ACC basketball, Strong SEC football/Weak ACC football) cooperation is more likely than confrontation and both can agree they don't like the B10.

This is also driven by ESPN. I still think their plan was to get the best football conference (SEC) and the best basketball conference (ACC) until their control. I do believe ACC's football will be better than SEC's basketball. ACC will be the new B1G with balance in both sports.

That's certainly true. The ACC and SEC have a lot of cooperative history between them. We share a large part of our footprint and the fans of the schools in those footprints tend to hold one another in the same regard as they do their conference mates.

The only real outliers would be BC, Syracuse, and ND.
Yinzers are okay. Bostonians are not bad either. Syracuse and ND can be a little tough to take, but if you can put up with Duke basketball fans you can deal with most anything.

There will be some of that tonight.
Alabama v Duke in basketball. I just hope it isn't a murder scene.
