He put up very good numbers.

There would be a very nice media exposure collateral benefit (for those out of town, his dad is one of the leading sports radio personalities in Houston).

His dad seems very close with Sumlin and Holgerson--will be interesting to see how that plays out. JT's predecessor at QB at Kinkaid is at West Virginia.

Dad is also close to Tony Levine, but I don't see him picking UH over Kinkaid (don't know them but why go to Kinkaid if you were going to pick UH?)

RE: 2015 Football Recruiting
JT will most likely be playing for a new head coach as Kinkaid and their coach parted ways in mid season. JT and the Falcons went on to an undefeated season. The interim{Def Coordinator] has applied, but as you know, there must be a "national search". JT has been well prepared and is going to have a monster senior season no matter who they hire. He is the "real deal".

RE: 2015 Football Recruiting
Kinkaid has a new head and a second year AD who were not involved in his hiring. Lots of little things added up and there was a parting. "Not a good fit" seems to be a current saying

Good start to recruiting. He was a 4 star for Scout. I'm sure it will drop now that he's commited to Rice.

Not "good" news; it's "great" news. There is no better way to start recruiting than getting a commitment from a talented defensive tackle. He looks powerful and agile on his film clip. Now we need no repeat of last year's start. The only better news would be to get several more commitments from defensive tackles.

Amen to that.

RE: 2015 Football Recruiting
Bailiff strikes again! Hope he signs, but seeing he had offers from Northwestern and Wake Forest makes me think he will stick with Rice and won't have any academic issues, unlike the early pledge DT we lost in 14 class. Plus he already had BCS offers so a BCS school offering late shouldn't be a factor. A 300lb high schooler rated by ESPN as the #21 player at his position, nationally. We know how hard it is to get good DT's at schools like Rice. This is a perfect start for the 2015 class.

Donnelly ranked 61 in Texas top 100, according to 247. Didn't have anyone last year.

I'm cautiously optimistic given that last year's class started with two good DT commits (perhaps not on this level) and neither of them ultimately signed with Rice.

It should help that we signed his HS linemate, Brady Wright, in the 2014 class.

What a great start to this year's recruiting. Seems to improve every year.
