Honest Question About EMU Attendance
I'm not very educated on this topic. From my understanding a school needs a minimum of 15,000 per home game or they may be moved to a different division.

Since 2009, they've made the 15,000 requirement once, which was 2010. This will be their 3rd consecutive year of missing it.

So, why hasn't action been taken? Sorry if this is redundant, I've noticed a lot of talk about this lately. Anyone have an answer?

RE: Honest Question About EMU Attendance
You can satisfy the requirement with either actual or paid attendance. Only one of those two numbers is reported in the box scores. The unreported one is obviously the one being sent to the NCAA.

It's an outdated requirement regardless. A holdover from the days when all of NCAA Football shared a single TV contract, and they didn't want teams with 4 digit fanbases claiming equal shares with teams filling 100k capacity stadiums.

I believe that when they don't meet the requirement they have some donors retroactively purchase tickets so they can maintain they D-1 status.

It's also a rule the NCAA has pretty much allowed to pass into obsolescence through non-enforcement.

RE: Honest Question About EMU Attendance
Pepsi buys a bunch of tickets as part of its contract with the school .
The MAC could request they report tickets sold like most schools .

EMU has never retroactively had donors make ticket purchases. Stop the lying.

Not really lying. He said that's what he believes. Everyone knows his belief system is strange but it's not lying. It does show how desperately out of touch he is with the sports world, though.

But it sure is in step with what it takes to be a politician. Rimshot

You seem to have got your information garbled.

They clearly meet the requirement by the option of selling sufficient tickets to meet the requirement, because they can't be meeting it by the butts in seats alternative.

So the "purchase tickets" part is right.

The "retroactively" is the part where you may have been confused. It seems likely that you encountered some explanation of how rolling averages work, and confused a need to sell additional tickets for this season because of falling short of sales targets the previous year with selling tickets retroactively for last season.

EMU along with Idaho should be back to FCS. There is no reason as a FBS institution they should be that low amount of people in the stands. This is what really gets the Power 5 schools ruffled up even more than the mid's that average 25k.

Has anyone else tried Valpo Velvet? Among other store bought choices, VP tastes the closest to the good homemade stuff.

Chocolate freak myself, but have to admit the French Vanilla isn’t bad.

If you're ever in Kent during the summer, you got to do Stoddards. Family-run, old-school drive in, closes once it gets cold out. It's on the other side of town away from the University, but it's worth the trip.

And there used to be another good custard place/mini-golf on 43 between Kent and I-76, but I think it may be gone? It wasn't far from the old Outpost/ aka Brimfield Ballet.

You had to go and mention Stoddards. Now I’ll be thinking about that smooth vanilla custard on a hot evening all afternoon.
