Use real stats not ones you make up.

Carden's most completions is 46/54 for 447 5 TD (ODU)

Cato's best games with under 20 completions is,

14/20 276 3 TD (UAB)

On the season

Carden 285-391 72.9 % 24 TD 5 INT
Cato 181-297 60.9% 23 TD 6 INT

Carden has thrown 95 more passes and completed 104 more than Cato, with 1 more passing TD and 1 less TD. It says something to me that Carden has thrown 95 more pass, with 104 completions while still throwing one less INT and a higher completion %. That tells me Carden is more accurate and smarter with the ball.

Carden has completed 104 more passes than Cato and only has 1 more TD? That's pretty weak.

Conversely, you could look at it like this: Carden has attempted almost 100 more passes than Cato and has a way better completion % & has one less interception than Cato.

You may say it's only 2.3 yards, big deal, but there are only 8 teams in FBS with a lower yards per completion than ECU.

So, Carden has still thrown 95 more passes and completed 104 more and thrown 1 less Int. and has a completion % nearly 12% higher. In fact, Carden is 3rd nationally while Cato is 56th.

In other words Carden is 53 spots higher in completion % than Cato.03-nutkick

When most of your passes are within 5 yards of the LOS it's not that hard to complete them. That's how Cato completed 70% last year. His number is down this year because he is making more "NFL" type throws, deep outs, deep crossing, working back shoulder, etc. we don't throw hardly any screens.

Well, that's our offense and he is running it to near perfection.

That's good. We run a different system and Carden is running it efficiently. I still don't understand your beef.

First post. I have kept up with Marshall for quite a while. My uncle who lives in Huntington has always told me how much the rivalry with ECU is "friendly". Up until this year, he was right. These boards are getting ridiculous and I know it isn't all the Marshall's fans fault, because ECU has some terrible internet fans, but in this case specifically I find it absurd. Carden is having a much better year. There are fans that are saying that last year Marshall's offense was much like ECU's but was "evolved" this year. That is perfectly fine and I think Marshall's offense looks terrific this year, but guess who got player of the year last year.. Cato. He won't repeat this year if Carden keeps up what he is doing. I honestly can't wait until this basketball season is over and ECU and Marshall can return to being friendly rivals.

Stats are just numbers, anyone can read them, interpreting them is a different matter.

You ECU guys are funny. You will argue Cooper is one of the best backs in the league even though stats do not bare that out but you rely 100% on stats to try and claim Carden is the best QB.

You are funny, you have to bring crap to every ECU post.

There does seem to be a common pattern here with Banker. Always interjecting into ECU based discussions.

Then saying..."what ? where did I say that ?

In my opinion , this Banker dude is worse that Still Bondsjonesing

funny little marshall fans

Shane IS the playmaker. So why not utilize the weapons we have? He is 5th in completions; 3rd in Completion %; 8th in passing yards; 6th for passing TDs; thrown only 5 INTs; 22nd in passer efficiency.

Somewhere, sometime, you might come up against a pretty good pass defense. In that game, it would be nice if you could run the ball. Oh wait, it already happened. Virginia Tech SHUT DOWN Carden. You see the result. I was at that game. They ran the ball with Cooper on the first series (I think it was the first one) and scored easily. After that, they stopped running and looked like crap the rest of the game. If only ECU had COMMITTED to run the ball, even 45% of the time, I think they would have beaten VT.

You are missing my point...It is one thing to say we are a bad rushing team. It is another to say we rarely run. Over the course of the season if we had 50-50 pass/rush plays, I think your observation would be different.

It very well may be. To your point on Cooper, I think he's no better than 3rd in CUSA behind Watts and Butler. He'd be a lot better if they would use him...and, hard as it is to believe, I think Carden would too.

Here are the numbers,

Butler 52 rushes for 510 yards, 6 TD, 1 rec for 18 yards, total 528 yards 6 TD

Watts 178 rushes for 857 yards, 6 TD, 41 rec for 370, 1 TD, total 1227 yards 7 TD

Cooper 148 rushes for 628 yards, 6 TD, 34 rec for 343, 1 TD, 971 yards 7 TD

Why is Butler even in the picture, Taliaferro has 728 yards on 132 rushes, 8 TD, 5 rec for 45 yards. He has better numbers than Butler.

Take a look at Butler's average and the number of TD's. He sees limited playing time because we have 2 other great backs. Many are pissed at Doc for putting him in the doghouse. Not sure I agree, as there have apparently been some "tude" issues. Everyone expects his average to go down the more he plays, but it doesn't. Consistent home-run hitter.

I hate to look ahead here, but we're going to have to run heavy against State.

That's the weakness! Just like rush defense (against larger backs, anyway) is MU's weakness. If ECU was smart, they would commit to the run in Huntington, especially if they can pull a big back off the bench to do it.
