I wouldn't call UVA a scrub, but VCU has been a basketball power for several years now.

Pitt looked solid against Fresno State last night. It's early but I like what I'm seeing so far. The ACC overall has been disappointing though.

This year must seem like the apocalypse to the West Virginia ACC butthurt contingent.

The B12 might of been good for their football team but it has absolutely killed their hoops program.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA! GT 80 - U(sic)GA 71 ... Final. Gregory is 3-0 against the nad lickers, and won back to back in Athens for the first time in decades. Even Cremins never won back to back there.

Brian Gregory's current employer vs Brian Gregory's former employer

Given all the cheering from Dayton fans when he left, it will be hilarious if GT wins.

Dunk, blocked Dayton shot, Layup, blocked Dayton shot, 3-pointer.

Trae Golden doing a solid Reggie Ball impression ... he has like 7 turnovers running the point and ALL of them have been easy transitions buckets.

With guard play like this, I think I'll go ahead and skip watching the conference games again this year.

We beat the inbreds in Athens. Mission accomplished, season over.

Pitt beat Lehigh easily to go to 4-0. It's been against light opposition but I'm cautiously optimistic about this season for Pitt, they've looked very impressive.

Seems I have a pretty good pulse on the coaching quality at GT in basketball and football.

Was at the game. Had a fun time. Might have to go to a few more.

Still an upgrade over P*** H***** and Chan Gailey.

Is it really?

Chan Gailey's 6 year total: 76 games 44 wins 32 losses

Paul Johnson's 6 year total: 77 games 46 wins 31 losses (Two regular season games and a bowl remaining)

Assuming the win this week over Alabama State, a loss against UGA (since Richt owns Johnson) and not counting the bowl, is two additional wins in three games really an upgrade? Especially when the trend appears to be GT is falling from the upper tier of the ACC towards the middle of the pack?

Yes. An Orange Bowl birth and a better record and a win over UGAg. Whether or not PJ can recruit the caliber of player needed to defeat The Hill and elite competition remains to be seen but seems doubtful.

RE: Open Thread - 2013-2014 Basketball Season
What a rough beginning to the season for the conference, FSU has an opportunity tonight against VCU, and Miami can continue it's redemption tour against UCF. Temple isn't doing so well this year so not that big of a win if Clemson pulls it out. Be nice is BC could do something against UCONN as well

I was just going to post this. The ACC homers need to admit that the league is awful so far in basketball this year as it has been for the last 3-4 years or so. I know UNC and Duke are good but the rest of the league hasn't done well consistently in so long. Hopefully Pitt and Syracuse, and Louisville next year can provide some spark to motivate these programs.
