This is true and the ascendancy of Florida State will add fuel to the fire that spurs impatience. Under normal circumstances he would get another year at the least. But, the Florida program is at a low not seen for decades, Florida State is awakening, the Eastern division of the SEC while in a slump is getting more competitive with Missouri and an improving Vanderbilt and the administration at Florida will likely recognize the need for urgency. Especially in the light of empty seats.

The factor that might help Muschamp get another year is that this might be a very competitive and very expensive off-season to be hiring a new head coach. Just as one example, if Sumlin opts to leave TAMU when Manziel does, he could end up with either an NFL job or Saban money in a marquee college job. (On the other hand, if USC hires an NFL guy and Mack Brown hangs on in Austin, the college market for coaches might be less than expected, and it might be a good time to make a big hire.)

Those empty seats this year have already been paid for. It's next years season ticket sales that will really tell if the fan base has given up hope. One more year might be painful, but probably is necessary.

XLance and Wedge you both may be right, but one point in your favor is that this will be a very bad year to poach a high level coach as there may be too many top brands vying for a very few targets. Outside of that I still think there is a better than average shot that Florida pulls the plug on Muschamp.

Didn't they have a ton of injuries this year? Won't that be the excuse?

22. Will Muschamp, Florida Gators – $2,734,500
The thing I notice most about that list is that Frank Beamer isn't on it. He signed his contract a long time ago for $2.2 to $2.3 million a year which is probably outside the top 30 head coaches salaries.

The thing I notice is that Perv St and Cincy pay the same for the football coaches.
