I am retired with a military pension and full medical benefits. I used the GI Bill to attend and graduate from the University of Louisville. My military career was in three stages:
1) Navy: 2-years active duty, 7-years Naval Reserve. I worked in Supply and NATO.
2) Kentucky Army National Guard; 18 years. I served in some interesting Army MOS:
- Military Intelligence Corp
- Finance Corp
- NBC-Chemical Warfare Corp
- JAG Corp
3) Ready Army Reserve: 14-years in standby reserve.
So this sums up my Army and Navy service as 2-years active duty, 22-years active reserve, and 17-years standby reserve. So I was available to Uncle Sam for 41-years of my life.
My civilian careers included 2-years as a high school teacher and 31 years as a commercial banking Risk Manager/Credit Analyst/Cooperate Management Trainee Trainer. I am retired from PNC Bank as is my wife. She is working as a bookkeeper for the Jefferson County Public Schools right now. She got bored of being retired.
To sum this up I was teacher, trainer and a leader in all my jobs both in the civilian and military careers. I think God, life has been good to my and I.
Also, my father had 2y years of active duty in the Navy and my son is in his 11th year in the U.S. Army, he has served in combat in Iraq for 4-years.
