Three deployments to Iraq (2003 - The invasion, aka the Fun One, 2006-07 Super Sized 15 month deployment, 2011 - New Dawn aka Turn out the lights), one to Afghanistan (2004), as well as visits to your finer third world sh!tholes such as Haiti, Nigeria, and Liberia.

Seems like only yesterday I raised my right hand at ECU and became a 2LT. Damn time flies.....

What unit in the invasion?

I was with the sneaky folks in TF20 out west but I am NOT a door kicker.

I was the guy who came in afterwards and said things like "Sorry about your dog and blowing a 50ft hole in the side of your house with a breaching charge. We thought Saddam Hussein was here. Here's $100 and a bag of rice."

LOL,

I was there for the invasion as well assigned to 3ID/HHC AVN BDE working as the BDE S1 asst NCO. Needless to say we didn't see much action in my shop but I did have to clear a couple buildings during some convoy halts along the way.

Boy do I understand what you mean about time flying by. 21 years ago on 24 JUL 1992 I raised my hand as a young private having no clue what life and the army were about to serve up. Fast forward to today, I am less than 30 days away from assuming company command of the Trans Company within the BSB of the 82nd ABN DIV. Its a great honor to take a command within the 82nd. I am nervous and excited all the same and cant wait to get the opportunity to train my Paratroopers.

Original MOS was 13D (Artillery). I did 6 1/2 years at Fort Bragg, NC. I am now located in New York City as a recruiter. I recently converted to the MOS 79R (U.S. Army Recruiter). Nov 24 will be my 9 year mark, time flies.

I have gotten to do a lot of things in the Military that I would not have done otherwise. Best decision I made for my life personally.

Where are you located in NYC? My reserve unit was based out if Ft. Totten. I think the base has been or is in the process of being sold.

LOL Nice. My Unit Queens Recruiting Company is located at Fort Totten. I think it's the only active unit there. I am at Flushing Recruiting Center. My BN is at Fort Hamilton.

I only did Boomers. I had orders to a fast boat (USS Miami) right before I got out, but my back surgery a year prior prevented me from getting cleared to go back to sea.

Similar to what I did, 30 years earlier. I was an ATR2 ship's company on the USS Forrestal. I started out in the electronics repair lab, and then moved to the tech library serving the lab. 04-cheers

Thanks to all the vets. Truly a blessing that we have the quality of life here in the USA to be able to banter about sports instead of worrying about martial law, freedom of speech, basic necessities, etc.
