With this year's SBC games played on national TV to date.....
....have they helped, been 'neutral', or hurt the reputation of the Belt?

I'd say neutral, because only die hard football fans watch a another team play on weeks night. Likely just fans of sunbelt teams watch. We need teams to continue beating bcs teams and really need a team to crack the top 25.

Not bad, really but
1. They have to make the broadcast SBC focused with correct facts
2. Get Benson to get on the horn and say "Hey, could you, you know, say something about the SBC at halftime seeing as that's the game you have on?"

Rattle Benson's cage, CatMom. I'm betting that if anyone could get his attention, it'd be you.

He doesn't have a cage. They nailed one shoe to the floor and he walks in circles.

Your comments got me to thinking, WL. Are these Tuesday and Thursday night games nationally-televised or are they all pay-per-view?
I'd think if they are nationally-televised then at least a few football fans who have never heard of XYZ school with the Belt would tune in and say, "hey, these guys play some pretty exciting football". Can't see how that would hurt....and do agree fully cracking the Top 25 would be a huge plus.

Agreed. Don't really care about Michigan-Michigan State or Florida State-Miami. Show me highlights of other games that day, talk about standings, talk about the current game, then maybe through national stories that have been rehashed all day.

RE: With this year's SBC games played on national TV to date.....
It is so sad that you guys need to be re-schooled about this subject. The games are good for the SBC. Even with 3/4 empty stadiums like Troy. Why you ask? Because the SBC, unlike the Pac 12 who is also broadcasting Thursday night games, is trolling for potential recruits. Teams in the Big 12 are wanting more air time for polls, and recruits.
It is a good thing for ULM, and Troy to get their moments in the moonlight so to speak. It is good for UL, ASU, South, TxSt for exactly the same reasons.
This question should not be seriously debated, because it is the wrong question.

I agree fully but asked the question to see if other's felt the way I did. I sometimes have blinders on and don't see things as others often do.
From what I've seen this year, it looks like the Belt has a lot of offense-minded teams....which means they're fun to watch (good for the fans) and probably good for recruiting too.
Having said that, while a 48-42 ball game is a lot more exciting to watch than a 10-7 ballgame, defense wins championships, not offense IMHO.
I recall back when Auggie Tamerello (sp?) was coaching the Cajuns he brought in an offensive co-ordinator (don't recall the guy's name) who really lite up the scoreboard. The guy sitting next to me every game said, "we might lose 48-45, but the fans sure have a good time".
Personally, I'd rather win games.

Exactly!!! They should cater more to the Belt when they are showing our games. Some late season OOC games would help too.

Helped. The only thing that could hurt in my mind would be our leading team (currently ULL) getting boat raced by a bottom feeder BCS team (ie Wake Forest)

RE: With this year's SBC games played on national TV to date.....
Television exposure is good. As long as it's not a thumping (to me, getting trounced by Texas on national TV doesn't help the cause. A thumping by a conference team ends up being neutral to me, as it improves the image of one school, and kills the image of another).
The problem with most Sun Belt schools (in my area at least) is that most folks don't realize that the teams play "DI" ball. Television helps fix that. Getting wins outside of conference helps as well. Getting on ESPN helps as well.
But basically, in a simple sentence, exposure = good thing.

This conference is looking really good as a lot of us expected. There are no "easy outs" except for maybe one and they have shown signs of life lately. We have one team with fewer than three wins right now and half the league is a game away from bowl eligibility. CUSA has six teams with fewer than three wins and so does the MAC. The AAC has four.
It would be nice if NMSU and Idaho could get their programs headed in the right direction before next year.
