crap
I wonder if he dislocated finger. on TV the way he came off the field he was holding it like you dislocated finger
I DVRed the game and watched it when I got home from Dekalb. Definitely looked like a dislocated finger and they popped it back into place. He was sitting next to Lynch at the end of the game and I was watching his hands. Looked like he was OK from what I saw, he had normal movement in them.
Maybe I'm confusing him with another player, but didn't Sebastiano dislocate his finger in the Iowa game as well?

It was definitely good to see AJ and Lynch laughing it up on the sideline after he was injured, it definitely did not look like something serious at all. We seem to be getting lucky with injuries I hope this lasts rest of the year. Yep it does look like Akeem is done but my gosh there are so many options out there now.

Saw that too. He forced the ball into Brown who was well-covered. I'm sure they'll that see that in the filmroom.

I completely agree. Had the same thoughts during the game.

Jordan doesn't have the best vision as a passer. Last year he left a lot of people open down field. If he has the time he shouldn't be staring at one receiver.

The only guys that I worry about burnt redshirts are QBs. If a true freshman is the best at his position anywhere else, play him. Martel Moore and Perez Ashford were obviously some of our best receivers when they stepped on the field in '09. Would they be better this year as redshirt seniors? No doubt, bu they were needed then.
Now, QBs are a different story. The offenses are so complex at the college level compared to high school that a freshman rarely has any grasp of it for the first year. Sometimes, a freshman can give a spark or make things happen by improvising based strictly on talent, but sustained success very rarely happens for a true freshman QB.
My standard answer to that particular question is that people on this board were screaming for Chandler Harnish's redshirt to be burned in '07. Given that the '07 wasn't really going anywhere (Harnish may have been the difference in crap losses vs WMU and Temple, but that's about it), and considering how hot and cold he was as a redshirt freshman starter the following year, I think all of us preferred the 22 year-old Harnish slinging it as a redshirt senior to what we saw in '08 squeaking out wins against Miami of Ohio.
Jimmy Ward? Jimmy Ward was ready to make an impact the day he stepped on campus.

You play the best players. We are undefeated, no reason to save a red shirt and potentially lose a game. Getting Turner, Smith, Bourgonon experience is important. We might NEED them against BSU or Toledo. I am a Cubs fan, tired of wait till next year, this IS the year.

I would add Oline to the list. Those guys need that year to get he baby fat off and build strength.

Good point. I spend every day coaching O-linemen and I forgot about the fat kids . You're absolutely right.

I believe the last O-Lineman to play as a true freshman was Jason O in 2006, correct?

I'm pretty sure Doug Free played as a true Freshman in 2003. I think he weighed about 270 then.

Free red-shirted in 2002 and played LT as a RS Freshman in 2003.

Significantly more important you do not burn lineman and QBs. Harder to develop those position and takes more time. Foe lineman that extra year phyisically is huge.

if any one is going to play as a Frosh, it would be a skill player. Although a frosh OL may big big, I think he needs the redshirt year to build strength.

RE: Injury Update after EMU
Like Herm Edwards once famously said, "You play to win the game..." This is the season to go all in and I think the staff has been very calculated with burning the red shirts. Huff seems to be the only untouchable at this point on offense. I like it though as we are undoubtedly looking at a drop / bit of transition going into next season with Lynch moving on so as the #17 team in the country this is the year to take your shot.

Robert Jones seems untouchable even though we were hurting at LB.
