GameDay: NIU
Today, I'd think, will be very, very tough, more so then even last Saturday. Yep.

There was the wake last night.

http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/inde...nds_a.html

http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/inde..._good.html

Everyone from Dr. Martin on down was there including even faculty, etc. in addition to the football program. The EMU family really turned out.

The team has to pick up its spirits and try to play a very, very tough NIU team (obviously on the road).

Last Saturday the team appeared to play with heart and love for their teammate. I read an article (Chicago paper) that Demarius' father was in the locker room before the game in a very emotional experience.

Today might be more like a funeral day. Somber, emotionally down, etc.

Today might be another day to be very respectful of a football program which is really grieving. Those photographs really show it.

As others said last week, this is a time to support everyone and not say or post anything to hurt anyone involved with the football program.

Today is a day for a family (and the EMU football family) to pull together and try to get through the day.

I say the following and it isn't a cliche': Today would be a day to PRAY for everyone from the Reed family and friends, the EMU FB family, etc. It will be emotionally gut wrenching. The soul leaves the body at death. On the funeral day, family and friends return the body to God.

I am of the Catholic faith and I know all too well the experience of a Priest at the funeral Mass blessing the casket with holy water and at the end of the Mass incensing (a purification rite) it before it leaves the church for burial, the last act, in the last chapter of the deceased earthly existence.

RIP Demarius.

I'm scared to watch. NIU needs to make statements and are looking to bcs bust again. This is going to be ugly.

I agree.

We've gotten killed by NIU on 'good days' and today is as bad as it gets.

NIU is good...but our defense makes everyone look like a National Championship contender.

Classless and heartless playing by NIU. Trying to score more to close the half against an opponent that is dealing with a lot of stuff right now.

Yep. Blame that on the BCS. There is every incentive in the world to run up scores.

NIU is trying to run it up.

Florida State led N.C. State 35 - 0 in the 1st quarter.

RE: GameDay: NIU
Yeah I know they're trying to impress the BCS with blowouts, but that seems like overkill.

I know it's a great payday and good exposure for the conference if they get to a BCS game, but this team would get massacred by FSU, Baylor, Louisville, etc. Lynch hasn't impressed me at all as a passer, and that defense won't slow down any of the top BCS schools.

Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I am. I was actually more impressed with Keith Wenning this year, though. That guy made some outstanding throws.

I threw that comment on the NIU board and surprisingly some of them seem to agree.

They've been there. They know what this is like.

I actually have more respect (for the most part) for their fanbase on here than any of the others. Mostly a classy bunch.

Roback back in. Looking sharp on the opening drive of the half.

Some NIU folks say its not classless because they need to blow out opponents in order to make the BCS. Trading money for respect of your opponent is the definition of classless to me.

And I don't think voters will really care if they beat us 70-6 or 44-6. The point is made either way, that this was never a game.

But whatever. Again, they'll get the conference some money and promptly get blown out by whichever conference champion they play.

+1. I could see if you guys were ranked or your O was moving the ball and had a chance to come back. We don't need the practice for Lynch and we don't need to score 3-10 more points for rankings.

Agree with point #1. Don't agree with point #2. At least we put in 2nd string qb now.
