What are they saying!?

Laurance asked if Teddy had a spot for Lynch on the ballot, Teddy said they get only 3 votes so not this year....said Jordan sorta burned him in the Orange Bowl Last year...said he thinks Jordan's an amazing college player but just so many options this year....

Then Laurence asked when he's going to get out of Champagne and Evanston and make a trip out to DeKalb and see the team in Illinois with BCS chances....Teddy brought up last year's game as a reason why NIU won't/shouldn't be back in the BCS....Then Laurence noted how you have FSU blowing out Clemson and Maryland vs. NIU hanging tough for 3 qtrs.

Then Teddy said NIU is a great team but if they were in the big ten they'd be the 5th best team, which isn't a knock given 10 years ago people would have laughed if you said that...asked Laurence if he thought NIU could take down Wisconsin on a neutral field, Laurence said he thinks they would have a 50/50 chance....

Nice! It's sad that 670 is going to start covering Illness games now instead of the NIU games...

RE: 670 The Score & Laurence Holmes....
Thanks for the recap. You can't argue with the fact that there are a ton of guys putting up amazing, heisman type numbers this year. Unfortunately doing it in the MAC is nowhere near as impressive as doing it in the SEC, ACC or PAC-12.

It seems like 95% of the well thought out, interesting conversation generated by 670 hosts comes from Laurence Holmes...and I've thought that for 3+ years, before he really got on the NIU train. Take any topic and he seems infinitely more knowledgeable and insightful about it than anybody else I've heard on that station

RE: 670 The Score & Laurence Holmes....
The question would be, could we beat Wisconsin at home. Why do they always make comparisons based on us playing on the road or at best a "neutral field"? If we were in the Big Whatever we wouldn't be playing every game on the road. There's nobody in that conference this year we wouldn't have a fair chance of beating, especially at home.

I think the only for sure win against us in the Big Ten would be Ohio St. Other than that, I think NIU could finish anywhere between 2 through 6 in the Big Ten this season.

Because a neutral field game should determine the best team with no home field advantage for either team...it's just a way of asking "which team do you think is better on the field, with no other factors being involved"

Nice - thanks for the update.

Gerry DiNardo was pretty complimentary of NIU on Wednesday. Mully actually asked him about NIU. DiNardo said its amazing what we've done and the consistency we've had given the AD and coaching staff turnover. Said we have built up our facilities, getting great crowds and players and continue to win. Very positive, stuff.

+1..heard that conversation as well. This AM David Haugh was sitting in for Hanley
and he asked about us to their Vegas guy. Haugh always gives us some props. Vegas guy seems to like Ball St very much.

We are getting some long over due respect in the city.

03-yes

Props to Laurence Holmes. He is a big-time supporter of NIU football!

We need to let Laurence know we appreciate it!

If you're talking about a bowl game I could see that, but a neutral site game at SF against Iowa with 90% Iowa fans is not really a neutral site.

This is why NIU hasn't gotten a lot of the respect with regards to the writers this year compared to Fresno and why we see more writers banking on Fresno in the BCS picture over us IMO.

Our fans had every opportunity to get the best seats for the SF games. Not Iowa or Wisconsin's fault that NIU fans don't show up for those games.

So our 31-10 loss in the Orange Bowl to FSU is hurting us, while their 43-10 loss in the Hawaii Bowl to SMU is being ignored? Have to love this system.

I think it is BS too, but in their eyes I'm sure it is that they had their shot.

A FS fan made the same point to me about our loss in the OB as reason why we aren't getting in over them. When I brought up their Hawaii bowl game, he said that there were a ton of distractions after spending 2 weeks in Hawaii and that the team didn't want to be there anyways.

My response: OK. Well, if you guys had to deal with distractions, totally understandable. Hawaii does tend to suck in December.

The fact that there are people who actually believe this is insane. Especially the ones who cover college football for a living. I could see the meat headed mouth breathing fan boy thinking like this...but come on.
