RE: New FB (De)Commit - DeMarcus Bingham
Go back and read this thread, post by post, and imagine you were the recruit, his parent, or his advisor.

No, I don't think we're responsible here... but do you seriously think threads like this help recruiting in any way?

RE: New FB (De)Commit - DeMarcus Bingham
Threads like this are direct result of the product on the field.

What I've seen in this thread is that we (the fans) are really excited about the kid, but we realize that with what we have on the field, we probably won't be able to keep him. We've been talking about he's a can't lose recruit. You would think the way we've been talking about him would build up his ego...which should be a good thing.

Given the timing of his tweet, I would venture that his decommital has much more to do with him following the same train wreck we all followed. If he understands football and our team at all, he saw the same things we did when it comes to misuse of talent on the field and he doesn't want to fall into that same situation.

So it's the fans fault for not spouting sunshine.
It's a message board, that's what it's for. Trust me, the kid didn't quit because of what a bunch of middle aged men and recent grads said on a message board. He said it himself, or it was reported that no one had kept in touch with him.

With that quote, I imagine whichever coach was recruiting him got chewed out already.

I didn't play, how much handholding is usual once a kid commits? I know some is needed since you see switched commitments all the time. Serious question, not snark.

RE: New FB (De)Commit - DeMarcus Bingham
I would think you would still need fairly frequent contact. I would think once a week...I could be wrong.

Even at that though...you contact the kid after he commits. Regardless of whether you talk to him again before he plays for you.

Business, sports or whatever, when someone says they want to join your team, you acknowledge it...especially if the feeling is mutual.

edit: However, I feel like that is just a line the kid is giving. I seriously think it has way more to do with what happened in San Antonio vs. what is happening with the other likely schools to be interested in him.

What about Bryan Clark?

He's better than DeAndre Woods. If we landed him, that'd be pretty damn good get.

Earned three stars from scout. Clark was a three star on rivals I guess something happen with him and the team then he got knocked down to a low rated two star. I thought with all the Clay kids Clark was next and would've been what we needed.

Seems like since Mullens pulled his stunt we haven't offered any SP kids this time around. With 15 being released for nothing we might have an harder time at Vigor HS.
