RE: New FB Commit - DeMarcus Bingham
I expect to lose 5 or 6 commitments before new years eve. Throw out your biased loyalty to UAB and ask yourself, "Is the program going in the right direction and are they committed to having a successful program". Would you want to play at UAB if you had good relationship with the coaches. No, but I would want to play for the coach where ever he goes. If I don't have a relationship with the coaches, I don't have any interest in UAB football at all. That's way it is, except for desperate kids who only have an offer from UAB.

Bingo. Aside from kids that are local and want to stay closer to home, we have to produce more with less to build the foundation of the program. I think this is sad that no one has followed up with Bingham, given his physical attributes. While we may not have kept him anyway, ya gotta try!

Bingham, Duckworth, and Lisa are must haves. We cannot lose them.

Yep, we might have lost Bingham he said he wants to play with Powell so he could help. Still no QB we can pin our hopes on.

how often should coaches be talking to a recruit? he only committed 5 days ago. are they supposed to call him every 3 days and make sure he's still committed? that seems dumb to me

i said it earlier and I got roasted. He's arrogant.
1) Not playing JP and sticking with Ab until he got embarrassed yesterday
2) not changing DC until he got totally embarrassed by FAU
3) I even tried to see the light behind letting JW go
4) blaming the reason players weren't focused was because they were taking pictures...pictures?...PICTURES!!
5) Now this with recruiting?!?!

Maybe he isn't in over his head...but the water is rising, his dog paddle is looking crappy and I don't see no one (BamaScorpio lol) tossing him a life vest.

You know we get tired of hearing this. You can say what you want and criticize all you want and no one will say anything other than maybe debate you but when posters cross the line and it gets personal or violates board rules the mods step in. In case folks have not noticed both the mods and this admin have been critical of the coaching staff and administration. We just have to maintain the board and make it an enjoyable place for fans to congregate and converse.

They are allowed to text the kids now. Sounds like Bingham told UAB compliance he committed and the staff may have not gotten word of it or just didn't care.

Yeah. As long as it doesn't violate an NCAA rule, I would think a "Welcome aboard, excited to have you" text would be standard procedure.

I'm actually not talking about the MODs.
I'm talking about other board members who rehash "then go cheer for another team", "you're not a true fan", "well we don't need your support".

Apparently the football program needs someone's support. Besides criticizing a coach isn't being any less of a fan then just nodding your head and accepting any and everything.

Now Look back and I never once said anything about firing McGee. I stand by my saying, you give a coach 4 years. But with the way he has handled things this year, the fans have a right to voice their displeasure. Contrary to popular belief the fans buy season tickets and donate what they can. Even boosters are just well off fans.
We may not all agree on this board, but no one is on here just to pass time. Just about every regular poster is a fan and supporter in one way or another.

I still say he is arrogant and it has cost us wins. I think he is learning, but that learning is coming at a price...losses. Hopefully he has had enough slices of humble pie to get up from the table and get this thing on the right track.

False. Football coaches are not allowed to text prospective student-athletes until after they sign a NLI.

How many slices of Humble Pie will it take before we start seeing positive improvements on the field?

False. Football coaches are not allowed to text prospective student-athletes.

It happens anyways. I must have missed the part where they changed their minds about allowing it.

It hasn't been allowed for at least the past 6 or 7 years

That was a proposal that would have allowed unlimited phone calls and text messages once an individual reached July 1 after their sophomore year in high school beginning August 1,2013. It was never passed, largely because football coaches across the country became very vocal that they did not want it to be passed. Thus, as the article says, text messaging hasn't been allowed since 2007

If we don't pick up the pace, the coach that comes in here after McGee is canned won't have much to work with either........except about 722 WR's.

This whole thread is pretty much null and void since the kid decommitted.

Once again...water's rising and just one more thing. Hope McGee gets something good going out of this season. We need something.
