I wouldn't be surprised if we lost or won. That being said, we beat a much better WVU last season in Lubbock.

RE: to the Texas Tech Fans
I think people are too quick to jump on and off a bandwagon. Is anyone happy with the team thus far? No. What have been the glaring issues? The offense. Who is the coach of the offense? A guy who has never been an OC before.

I'm giving him until the end of the year to show some real progress on offense. Otherwise I'll be ready to make a change at that position.

As far as Tubs goes, UC needs a name guy in there who can recruit if they are going to maintain any sort of talent level. The conference sucks and UC lost its differentiator between the MAC, CUSA, etc., and itself with the collapse of the Big East. A name coach is their own differentiator left.

So... to summarize:

1. The offense sucks.
2. the OC is a 1st year guy.
3. Gran has until the end of the year to show a turnaround or hit the road.

At that point in the season, West Virginia was #5 in the country and averaged 52 points a game on offense and gave up 35 points a game on defense. Tech won 49-14 and beat an entire TEAM last season.

Regardless, this game should be fun. The game is in Morgantown which is a tough place to win. While our offense has struggled at times this year, the defense is much better than the one WVU faced last season. I didn't talk smack to Mountaineer fans last season and I won't this season if we escape Morgantown with a W.

I hope you have a good time in Morgantown. So far, everyone else from the B12 that's gone up for a game has. Be sure to try some pepperoni rolls while you're in town. If you feel like taking a risk on a heart attack, you can try a Tudor's biscuit for breakfast too. Both are West Virginia staples...

I'm looking forward to the game myself. Hopefully, we can pull of another upset. The only remaining games that concern me are TT and TCU. I'm not worried about Texas, since they're the walking wounded and their defense is futile against the run. By the same token, I don't think any team in Kansas or ISU will be able to beat the Mountaineers. IF WVU is going to pull off an upset, it will be against Texas Tech. I don't think we'll be able to do that against TCU in Ft. Worth...

What does that say about Baylor's offense?
It's the most efficient offense WVU has seen since Fielding Yost's point a minute Michigan team from 1904 scored 22 TDs on us in a 130-0 drubbing (by modern scoring rules, that equates to 172-0)...

This article from The Smoking Musket puts things in perspective...
Quote:I've watched a lot of football. I've watched a lot of WVU football. I've seen blowouts, upsets, great wins, terrible wins, good games, bad games, and everything in between. I've seen WVU manhandle teams that were supposed to be so much better than us that no amount of reason could even possibly suggest that we would win in any alternate reality. I've seen a 28 point favorite score 9 points at home...at night...

This weekend, I watched something I hadn't seen. I saw 56 points scored in a half, by one of the best offenses I've ever witnessed. EVER. Remember that game we played against Clemson a couple years ago where everything clicked and we scored 70? That was fun. Now we know how Clemson felt. Actually, we don't because 56 points in a half is unheard of for anyone, let alone WVU. Baylor simply couldn't miss. They couldn't NOT score. Everything they threw was perfect and everything they caught stuck to their gloves. In fact, I want every glove from that game tested for Stick 'em.

The Maryland game this year was the polar opposite of this game. We handed them turnovers and points to go along with them. Nothing was handed to Baylor this weekend except miles and miles of open turf. Heck, we even had a bounce or two go our way with a muffed punt (that looked suspiciously like Carswell back there for Baylor didn't it?) and a couple interceptions. It didn't matter in the end, because Baylor simply outmatched us to the man. It's hard to complain about that.

The Loss to USF was a head scratcher.

UC should be favored in the next 4 games facing teams that are a combined 2-16, with two FCS losses, and a 1-point FCS win (other win 31-7 over Arkansas State.

Same here. It is taking this Oline longer to adjust than we hoped for.
Defense has not given up a TD in 3 consecutive games, albeit vs bad teams, but they are holding their own.

Worth...
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the trip to West Virginia. 03-banghead
There's always next time... 04-cheers
But it's a pity you won't make it up, fall in West Virginia is a sight to see...

jml, here's a picture from Mercer County, WV yesterday. You don't see fall like this in Lubbock...

Hell, I'm not aware of any place in Texas that looks like that.

Very nice. It is still very green in SW Ohio.
