jml, here's a picture from Mercer County, WV yesterday. You don't see fall like this in Lubbock...

Hell, I'm not aware of any place in Texas that looks like that.
Very nice. It is still very green in SW Ohio.
Mercer County, WV is along the Appalachian Continental Divide. Princeton and Bluefield are in Mercer County. Fall always comes early at higher altitudes...

The change to fall colors is so large in N. America, especially Blue Ridge, Smokey, Ohio River Valley etc.,
it can be seen from space. I have a bunch of those Discovery Channel Planet Earth DVDs, neat stuff.
