Hhhmmm... About any argument you formulate, it's going to be riddled with hypocrisy and inconsistency. It is a beast that needs to be tamed.
Today, the only ones who benefit are the top upper shelf institutions who dictate the rules of the game.
Until someone (insert NCAA / Congress) does something about this, Jerry Kill will still be interviewing for jobs (& he should for life changing $$$) while he still has games on HIS schedule. Why? Because the Powers that be don't give 2 $hit$ about the lower tier conferences.
If he is doing that, why shouldn't Miami get a jump on their replacement, take an existing guy for a test drive, then do an exhaustive search?
Actually, it sucks but, I'm glad to see it happen... It opens everyone's eyes to the fact that loyalty/education mean jack, $$$ drives the bus.
Really? You've never interviewed for a job while still doing your current job? I'm not sure how that gets spun into the powers that be don't give 2 sh3ts etc. etc.
You missed my point - HE SHOULD DO IT. YOU SHOULD DO IT. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the Beast and the system. Hence, the problem that needs to be fixed. As long as the Power Conferences drive the bus and, distribute the checks, good luck changing it.
What exactly is the problem? It's a free country and a free market. You're allowed to do this with any profession and you should be. There is nothing to "fix".

RE: Miami OH fires Treadwell
My commentary was more on this raiding/firing in midseason becoming a trend. In my opinion, it's not a trend, it is reality.
The question is moreso, one of acceptance. If we're willing to accept it, nothing needs to be fixed, just manage accordingly within that reality. In the real world, people get hired and fired every day.
Personally, I don't like it.

will a new Miami coach demand a 5 yr no fire contract, because getting wacked after 1 1/2 seasons is rediculous.

Money has been driving the NCAA sports bus for years. It could be TV money , alumni money, conference money or required student fees. Why do you think we have lost so many good people the last couple of years. They follow the money. Would you turn down $400,000 raise because you love NIU? You get on the bus.
Kill should have followed the $. Doeren should have followed the $. It's life changing $.
Similarly, management should also use all the tools at their disposal to run their business. Why waste an entire season if you know a change is eminent? For "loyalty"? Please - loyalty is a word that is sold on the recruiting trail. Nothing more, nothing less.
The system is set up to drive $$$. I'm not complaining - it is what it is. Adapt and treat it is as such. If it wasn't about the $, Nick Saban wouldn't be making more than the President of the most powerful country in the world.
it has to do with needing more then 1 1/2 yrs to get the program in shape. Thank god we didn't do that

Miami beating NIU in the MAC Championship in 2010 is one of the great flukes in the history of sports.

I thought he had 2.5 years. He was there for 2011, 2012, and now 2013 seasons.
Either way, the team he took over won 10 games (conference championship and bowl game) and returned 18 starters, including an NFL caliber QB, and he only won 4 games with them in 2011.
This team was highly uncompetitive and scored a total of 44 points in five games.
It was the right moved and i would hope NIU would fire a coach who was tanking our program.
