I think I will forward that to the admin. Can't say that I disagree.

Of course the atmosphere is made better by a full stadium. Is this a chicken and egg thing or are there actually things they can do to make people more interested in coming?

Again, that's one of the weaker homecoming crowds we had, and I was very surprised by what I saw. I didn't expect that at all so while a bit abnormal it was still disconcerting.

Somebody must have put a bug in the ear of the PA system operator. He stopped playing "Hell's Bells" this week when the opposing QB started his snap count. I was afraid we were gonna get flagged at some point during the Memphis game for doing that well into the Tigers' snap count. Our scoreboard speaker system is LOUD.

I, too, thought we were going to be nailed for PA sound well into the start of several Memphis plays. Truth be known we should have been.

According to a couple of their resident idiots on MemphisTigers.org, I was at their game in Memphis yesterday trashing their coach and laughing when they had a game winning kickoff called back. Some fool claims to have sat right beside me at Liberty Bowl stadium. All I can say to that is the pre-game buffet sure was good in Murfreesboro yesterday.

Lol! No way you would eschew an MT home game 30 minutes from your home in favor of a Memphis game against UCF :)

I know, Dave. Beats me. I saved the two posts for when I need a good laugh. TigerSeth has since deleted his post.

But its worse for football, because there are only 12 games and each one is essential whereas basketball there are 30 plus games and one win or loss doesn't really have a huge impact on the season; therefore, people are less forgiving on missing football games than they are basketball.

But our university does contribute to this some. There are a lot of things that could be done to make the overall experience better.

It can effect our hoops attendance. Yet our hoops attendance is still historically in the middle of the conference despite not having a historical good product on the floor.

UNC and NCSU both have 60,000 seat stadiums, so if they both are having home games they combined draw more than Tennessee.

Then you throw in WF and Duke. Not to mention App St typically draws more than the bottom 1/3 of FBS. There is plenty of competition in this state.

Don't get me wrong, there's tons of good football in North Carolina and this is not to discredit the job ECU does with attendance. I'd give anything to have the type of support that you guys have. However, I think it's a lot easier to draw football fans at a mid-major in NC than say in a state like Texas, Tennessee or Alabama, where frontrunner football fandom for traditional powers irrationally breeds.

It's very hard for mid-majors in Texas to draw and/or keep fans interested. For one, it's just a big state and we have to compete with 12 other FBS-level teams. Secondly, no matter the level played (college/professional), fans in Texas are horrible. We harbor some of the biggest t-shirt frontrunner fans in the nation. They love and support you when you're winning, but have nothing to do with you if you're losing. A&M might be the only exception, but that's just because it's a cult. But Even UT (Texas) is having a hard time selling tickets for their annual OU rivalry game.

I really think a lot of guys underestimate what % of our fanbase comes from places like Charlotte, Greensboro, Richmond, DC, etc that are all 1 1/2 to 4 hours away.

I drive from Raleigh to every game, which is 3 hours round trip. This is the norm, not the exception.

No way to prove it but my guess is ECU easily leads CUSA in attendance from fans that have a 2+hr drive to the game. Raleigh is the 2nd highest concentration of ECU alumni and fans in the State of NC and while an easy drive of an hour and change there is a huge contingent of season ticket holders in Raleigh and further west. I know after my 5hr drive on I95 north from Hilton Head that I love getting off at exit 119 to Greenville. You still have 30-40 minutes of driving to get to the stadium but I join a huge sea of Pirate fans with their cars all decked out to make the last leg of my journey. It always gets me pumped up to see all those Pirate fans on Highway 264 going to Greenville.

I drive 10 hours round-trip to watch the Pirates every home game. I also go to regional away games and basically any bowl game (except Hawaii).

By the 4th quarter MTSU played Hells Bells on 2nd, 3rd and 4th down. I hope I never hear that song again.

Tell me about it. Our PA announcer is terrible, and our "DJ" is of the 1970s.

Their PA guy also called ECU, "Eastern Carolina", once, too.

Please do not take it personally. We have possibly the worst PA announcer in the country. He almost always announces the wrong player for plays and when he does get the correct player, he mispronounces their name a majority of the time. He's awful.

RE: ECU/MT Post Game
First things first MT fans, if not but just for your own players. That field needs to be replaced and who ever takes care of it, fired. Way too many pellets in the turf, made slick to play on. Justin Hardy was talking about how lose the footing was there. There were 3-4 times your RB had at least 5 yards he could gain, but slipped when he made his cut.

Then worry about the PA guy.
