Jackson had been dropped by CMU and was between schools.

Don't believe that "Jackson had been dropped by CMU"...I believe the coach that recruited him got fired so he left CMU on his own. Bit of a difference there.

Has anyone heard about recruiting. I see many programs getting commitments, but nothing for us. I know that we have had some visitations.

Well, I wouldn't say we have nothing. We have Rosel Hurley from Shaker Heights committed for next year and Devon Andrews from Lorain committed for 2015.

We have 3 seniors this year and those scholarships next year will go to Rosel Hurley and one player who is paying for his own tuition this year, so that leaves only one scholarship available. Jimmy Hall will also get the scholly that was given to Bryson Pope last year. I hope they use the last scholly on a big man, because we are deep at guard and will need someone to score down low when Goodson is gone.

Is Jon Fleming on scholarship? I never saw an announcement about him. The Marquiez announcement said he was the third signing for the year with Carter and Jackson, and the first Bahama release mentioned Fleming and didn't give any background for him.

Fleming is a walkon

GFlash68,

I have found that the best and most up to date website for Kent State mens basketball recruiting is http://www.verbalcommits.com (http://verbalcommits.com/schools/kent-state to go directly to Kent State's page) or you can follow them on twitter @VerbalCommits.

When you go on the website, http://verbalcommits.com/schools/kent-state, scroll down and you will see the Basketball Recruiting Scholarship Chart, which shows who has been offered, verbal commitments, etc.

Hope this helps, as espn.com, scout.com, & rivals.com are all way behind when it comes to Mid-Major Mens Basketball Recruiting. I believe the signing period goes til mid-November, but I could be wrong.

RE: Kent State Basketball 2013-2014 Season
They just received a verbal commit from Raasean Davis a 6'7 220 pound forward from Georgia, who also had offers from Wichita State, Southern Miss, Hawaii, and Cincinnati. Now all the Scholarships are taken up for next year. He is a very good rebounder and can finish inside, he has the potential to be very good.

More on Davis:

Happy to report a new commitment as of tonight. Raasean Davis of Georgia is reported to have committed to Kent State. He is a 6-7 wide body, like 230 pounds. I had heard that Sendy had been working on him very hard. If this is true, I think that we will be happy with this talent.

Nice pickup for us. Have been hearing anywhere from 6'6 to 6'8. Hopefully he is still growing! Here is an article about his commitment. http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/1336837.html

Wahoo! Welcome to the family Rosel and Raasean 02-13-banana

Two nice gets for the program and I like the way Davis thinks. It also sounds as if Coach Sendy et al are really committed when they are on the trail which stood out to Davis. Congrats!

Read that he grew 4 inches in the past year and is still growing. I see him at 6'-9" in another year. He weighs 230 lbs and is considered thick with soft hands. He is a natural back to the backet player. He usually beats his man down the floor. Could we have another Justine Greene in the making with more potential?

That would be nice. Can Melvin be that guy this season?

So far, from a physical standpoint, I would say that Tabb is one of the more underachieving players that I have seen in our program. I keep hoping that it becomes important for him to reach his potential.

I'm more disappointed in Henniger than Tabb. Tabb had nearly as many rebounds (110 to 126) and points (138 to 164) as Henniger with a lot less time on the floor. And this was Tabb's first season in Kent, so there was a lot of learning.

We do need Tabb, Henniger, Spicer, and Ortiz to make up for the production that graduated with Chris Evans. I'd guess 2 of those 4 will be on the floor most of the time. I'm expecting Tabb to get a lot of those minutes and end up at least HM on the all-MAC list this year.

I think Tabb is more athletically-gifted than Henniger, so that higher ceiling leads to higher expectations for Melvin than Mark. Mark looks like a nice banger, a hustle & grit role player, but Tabb has the size and athleticism to be a go-to big.

That was my point exactly. Thanks for saying it better.

RE: Kent State Basketball 2013-2014 Season
I know Goodson played a lot of 4 last year, but I think it'd be a solid advantage if we went "big" instead of the small ball we see so much in the conference. Play Tabb at the 5, Henniger at the 4, Goodson at 3. The guards could be Brewer-Simmons, Brewer-Manley, Thomas-Brewer, etc... Going "big" isn't a very common strategy, but I think that has more to do with traditional collegiate personnel. We are in a unique position with Goodson.

Sendy on Goodson, "he can't guard a shadow." Hilarious and troubling all at the same time.
