RE: CUSA Wk6: My Lines/Your Lines: 666 is the number of the beast
Things to watch IMO:

UTSA @ Marshall
--UTSA has shown it can score..... How will this play out...

FAU @ UAB
--Does FAU notch a conference win? UAB fared well in a game against a similar level of opponent, do they get a W?

Rice @ Tulsa
--Does RICE take the lead in the West in sending a downward spiraling Tulsa team even further down the drain?

ECU @ MTSU
-Does/can ECU avoid having a letdown against MTSU. Also, how high could the score in this one get?

UNT @ Tulane.
--Conference standings wise this could be interesting.

FIU @ USM
--Whomever loses...well

LaTech @ UTEP
--Whomever loses..... well....

I'm just trying to remember, when's the last time Tulane played a game in October that was interesting/relevant to the rest of the conference?

The game itself is a true toss-up. Some factors point to a Tulane victory, other factors slant in UNT's favor. 50/50, IMHO.

UTSA @ Marshall
I think that this is going to be a close game. I will give Marshall the edge due it being a home game.

FAU @ UAB
Another close game. I am going with FAU, because they have a good defense

Rice @ Tulsa
I am going with Rice, because I think that they are a little better than Tulsa.

ECU @ MTSU
This will be a battle. I think that ECU might be a little stronger.

UNT @ Tulane
I think that Tulane is better than we originally thought. Close game, but I am going with Tulane.

FIU @ USM
USM, because FIU has given up.

La Tech @ UTEP
UTEP, because they seem pretty energized.

RE: CUSA Wk6: My Lines/Your Lines: 666 is the number of the beast
Conference Play!!! These are the games that count and there are some good match ups that will help sort out the haves from the have nots, this year, I think.

UTSA @ Marshall: but not expecting this to be a cakewalk
FAU @ UAB: Feel confident that UAB will win at home, although FAU's defense is good
Rice @ Tulsa: This game will tell us all a lot about both teams.
ECU @ MTSU: After Carolina, I don't see the Pirates losing
UNT @ Tulane: North Texas has looked decent. Upset special.
FIU @ USM: Streak will be broken
La Tech @ UTEP: Miners will win at home

FUTURES:
WKU @ ULM: Toppers have been inconsistent, but think they will win
Liberty @ ODU: Monarch's offense will be too much.
Gardner Webb @ Charlotte: Niners win at home

UNT could very well win. But if they do, it won't be much of an upset: Vegas line started at UNT -3, moved to -2.5

I need a clear head before going out and picking the games. Post mortem it will be interesting since everyone is playing conference games this weekend.

ECU and Marshall can go up 2-0 in the divisional standings setting up what could be the East Title game with ECU @ Marshall at the end.

It will take a few conference games to start seperating out the CUSAW teams. I still think Rice is in the best position but UNT isn't far off and if UTSA can figure a few things out they could do some damage in conference play. Tulsa.... well yeah.... can't trust them. Tulane, can't trust them either.

I still think Tulsa will get its act together. But I admit my faith in them has been badly shaken so far.

No offense to Charlotte, but they can't beat GW. GW has already beaten 2 top 15 FCS teams this year.

Agreed. I should also point out that there would be no shame in a Charlotte loss, either. GW has a good program at thier level and Charlotte lacks the depth needed to beat established programs.

If Charlotte can win... it would be their best win of the year by far.

My picks:

UTSA @ Marshall

FAU @ UAB

Rice @ Tulsa

ECU @ MTSU

UNT @ Tulane (probably the game of the week, along with UAB/FAU)

FIU @ USM

La Tech @ UTEP

We're 2-0 when playing other birds (Jayhawks and FAU Owls), but winless when the mascot is not a bird. I don't like the game at Tulsa, but I do like the game in two weeks against the UTSA Roadrunners.

This is sort of how I feel. They beat Richmond, who almost (probably should have) beaten NC State in Raleigh. I'll be thrilled walking out of the Rich with a win this weekend, and honestly happy with a truly competitive game.

BTW, wanted to congratulate y'all on the win at UNC-CHeat this weekend! A lot of Heels fans started talking about Basketball season after that game!

Rice 31 @ Tulsa 27

ECU 38 @ MTSU 28

UNT 27 @ Tulane 20

FIU 14 @ USM 31

La Tech 38 @ UTEP 34 (once agian UTEP's total lack of defense lets our decent offense down)

I wouldn't go this far. There is a chance but it is pretty slim. Our defense does a great job in creating turnovers, problem is the offense hasn't been doing a very good job of taking advantage of them.

I'll be the first to admit I thought Presbyterian would handle Charlotte, especially at home.

Charlotte looks better than I thought.

UTSA @ Marshall.
Roadrunners could compete well in this game. We'll see.
FAU @ UAB.
Owls have taken 3 out of 4 from UAB. Attendance 7,211
Rice @ Tulsa
Was Rice ooking ahead to this game. Are they just not as god as we though?
ECU @ MT.
Very interesting game.
UNT @ Tulane.
Dare we even think Tulane could win the West?
FIU @ USM.
For the love of Pete, USM.
La Tech @ UTEP.
Another happy ending at home for UTEP.

FUTURES:

WKU @ ULM.
Warhawks are without starting QB. Hope the backup isn't better.
Liberty @ ODU.
Praise Jesus.
Gardner Webb @ Charlotte.
Niners get stuck in a Webb.
