Refs were a joke on both sides. I believe the final count was 28 penalties and about 4 plays with offsetting penalties. Refs need to be reprimanded and keep the flags in their pockets. Ticky tack BS all night long.

A win is a win when you're playing one of the top FCS teams (which I'm assuming EIU is one of them?). All I really wanted last week when the Rockets played EWU was a win even if only by 1 point.
I want to put together a rant about NIU's near loss to an FCS team but need Tardballz and some other Huskie fans to help me with it as I don't have much experience in spouting off self righteous indignation while projecting an unfounded sense of over-importance. I know I need to use words like "disgusting" embarrassment" "over rated" and others along those lines but I'm not sure how to put it all together.
Do I type the whole thing in all caps or just save the caps for words that emphasize my sense of self righteousness? This is all new to me but I am very excited to talk about the significance of margin of victory over inferior opponents.

Yuck, i don't know if this team is regressing or what. Each game we keep getting more undisciplined with turnovers and penalties. The defense starts off slow in the first half and we have to dig ourselves out.
The most annoying thing was watching us play off their WR's so much and leaving EIU WR Lora on single coverage the whole night. Kid was their go-to guy and kept catching everything. I believe he had well over 200 yds and 3 TDs receiving.
We have got a lot to work on before playing Purdue. Sure, Purdue may not be good but we have not been playing that well these last two weeks.

Boucher was a QB with offers from teams like Ohio State, I doubt Tressel wanted him to run the read option like he's being forced to do (although he made some miserable throws as well).

eCK: My niece is the editor of photography for the Miami Student newspaper and gets two field passes for every game.....today her Dad (my lil' bro who went to Ball State) went with her to the UC-MU game. He called me afterwards and told me how frustrated the Miami defensemen were everytime they came off the field after holding UC scoreless. They kept saying how awful our O was (in somewhat profane manner) and kept telling each other that the only way Miami could win is if the defense scored points. (and how true they were, eh?). In addition to thinking our offensive scheme and play-calling as awful, my brother also felt that Boucher was awful in his passing.

....and as for the NIU-EIU game, I don't know if the NIU D is just that bad or not, but you gotta give some credit to EIU..their QB was top-notch and their receivers were very good as well. There sure didn't seem to be that much of a talent gap although both offenses were dominant over the respective defenses. There was about 1200 yards of total offense in this game, about evenly split.

That reminds me of the days of the last few years when neither NIU or Toledo had defenses and we were in 63-60 shootouts. Glad one of us has found a defense.
The NIU defense was terrible, but EIU had to go for it on 4th down and kick an onside kick to jump to a 20-0 lead. Granted they did it to perfection, but NIU still came back and won.
