As a matter of fact, the last winning season was 1995. Nothing to be proud of for the last twenty years.
Unfortunately, that's what every poster says when I have challenged them to come up with some information

That Stassen's site is down?

It worked for me a couple of months ago, so I don't get your point.

That was my point, exactly. Making it all about FB is a way for NIU fans to say kick EMU out for their football without volunteering to have NIU kicked out for their BBall.

Quote: I don't see EMU on that basketball list either.
No, you will be familiar with EMU down in your part of the BBall standings. Above you down there in your part of the BBall standings more often than not:

2012/13: EMU 13-18, NIU 4-25
2011/12: EMU 13-18, NIU 4-26
2010/11: NIU 8-21, EMU 6-22
2009/10: EMU 15-15, NIU 10-20
2008/09: NIU 9-20, EMU 6-24
2007/08: EMU 13-19, NIU 6-23
2006/07: NIU 16-11, EMU 7-21
2005/06: NIU 11-17, EMU 11-18
2004/05: EMU 10-15, NIU 8-19
2003/04: EMU 10-15, NIU 8-19

Neither of you have had a 20 win season in the past decade. So obviously, if sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, the way you are talking about MAC FB, both of you should be kicked out of MAC BBall.

Now, only half of the MAC has had 20 win seasons in the past 10-15 years, so lets put the bar at 18 win seasons. Most recent 18+ win BBall season in the MAC:
2012/13: Ohio, Akron, Kent State, WMU
2011/12: Buffalo
2007/08: MiamiU, Toledo
2002/03: CMU
2001/02: Ball State, Bowling Green
2000/01: Marshall

So basically all but two schools have had 18 win seasons in the past 10-15 years. Along the lines of your "EMU has had bad FB for 10-15 years, kick them out of MAC FB" argument, NIU should join EMU in getting kicked out of MAC BBall.

Like it or not, there are other sports besides football. Nobody is getting kicked out because of one sport. Why do we have to keep talking about this?

Because membership in an FBS conference is based on having an FBS level football program, and EMU hasn't produced that on the field or in the stands for years, nor does anyone realistically seeing that correcting itself in the years to come. Other than that tiny factoid, its not worth discussing I guess...

Two years ago, EMU was 6-6 and 4-4 in conference, beating both WMU and CMU. That's competitive. They were a late season loss to a surging KSU team from going to a bowl.

I suppose the detractors will continue to say that doesn't count.

IF FBS were serious about attendance and facilities, every MAC team would drop a division.

Failing to mention they were 6-6 with two fcs games, thats why they needed a seventh win to possibly bowl.

4-4 vs MAC teams playing in the proverbial stronger division. Not a bottom team.

Manipulating data is always fun. Why draw the line at 18 wins? So you can purposely lump NIU basketball in with EMU. How about you draw the line at teams that have had a winning season over the last 10 - 15 years. Based on the information you presented above, looks to me like only one team has failed to generate a winning season, EMU. So basically what you are saying is that only one MAC team has failed to generate a winning season in both mens hoops and football over the last 10 - 15 years. Interesting. And saying that 20 wins is a benchmark in the MAC means little when you are a one bid league.

They beat one team in conference with a winning record that season, WMU, and none of the top teams in the West. The other three wins came over teams with a combined 7 wins on the season. And as mentioned previously two OOC wins came against FCS competition. That's not impressive at all.

Dear HuskieTap22,
If, one goes back 15 years 1997-98 basketball, Eastern was 20-10 overall and 13-5 in the MAC. 1999-2000 season Eastern was 15-13 overall, and as recorded above 2009-10 17-15 overall. So, sorry, but those are the facts. Eastern has had winning seasons in the last fifteen years.
If one wants to talk about history of programs and what was accomplished in the last twenty-five years, check what Eastern has done by being in the NCAA tournament and what Northern Illinois has done in that tournament. You're fighting a losing argument when it comes to basketball.
So, in the end, if we get bounced for football, you get bounced for basketball. Pun intended.

Dear Ken Barna,

I enjoy seeing you give it back to the Huskies fans. I'm not sure why they have it out for you guys so bad.

Best Regards,

Thanks for that ~ I was going Sagarin conference rankings that I had to hand, which only went back to the turn of the century.
