Charles Barkley is still cracking me up
Johnny Manziel annoying Auburn man Charles Barkley into rooting for AlabamaQuote:Former NBA star Charles Barkley, who played his college hoops at Auburn, is an avid supporter of his Tigers, and he's never been one to deny his good-natured hatred for the Alabama Crimson Tide. But thanks to the on- and off-field antics by Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Sir Charles is considering the unfathomable: saying "Roll Tide."
Barkley made a radio appearance on Waddle and Silvey on ESPN 1000 Chicago on Tuesday, and as noted by al.com's Mark Heim, the current NBA analyst for TNT expressed his annoyance regarding Manziel.
"Johnny Manziel, he's doing something I never thought was possible," Barkley said. "He's going to make me root for Alabama this weekend. I never thought I would say those words. I am so close to saying 'Roll Tide.' Johnny Manziel is annoying me so much. I'm really close to saying 'Roll Tide.'"

I heard that yesterday, too... Charles always delivers! It really is not a bad move by Manziel. He knows he will never be the white knight. In entertainment, you either need to be the good guy or the bad guy. Athletics needs the bad guy, and Johnny fits the bill.

He'll be moving in with Charlie Sheen next...

Technically, Barkley said Roll Tide twice just in that statement. So Manziel has already accomplished what Mr. Barkley said he might accomplish.

Apparently A&M, has a 100 year old tree on campus. I hope the Corps has posted a watch around it since last year's game.

Charles Barkley is proof positive that the world is a far more interesting and funnier place when people aren't so politically correct.

Exactly. It is the ability to laugh at ourselves and others that best illustrates our freedom. Freedom from our own egos and freedom from others opinions. It is in that kind of freedom that we find happiness and sometimes joy. It is why at my core I despise the corporate mentality and political correctness which is really the bonds of manipulated public opinion that they use to try to imprison our thoughts and speech. Charles is refreshing because in his mind he is free and in his actions he proves it. There needs to be a bit of Charles in more of us.

I agree it's a certain kind of freedom. But I would argue that being PC is not about some nefarious scheme, but more about individuals and their ability to wield power over others. While in reality no one has the right of being offended, the structural apparatus in place confers such power.
What were Riley Cooper and Paula Deen castigated for? One can pick up any rap CD today and here far worse. And the mental gymnastics required to justify such hypocritical positions are just as torturous (I.e. how does Eminem get away unscathed?). IMO, the only reason for the outrage is b/c of the results, the torching of someones career.
