We're as deep and talented as any team we've fielded since 2005.

Granted, that might not be saying much.

Let me clear it up. Besides top 4 running backs, Staples, Humphrey, Nelson, Backman, and Ty Long. We have FCS talent. Or at least that's how mostly everyone else performs or was thought of out of high school. Its rude to say, but hey its pretty obvious. Also I can be an As*hole for being straight forward unnecessarily.

It seats around 65,000. They had 40,677 for the Okie $tate game, but most of it was $tate fans.

Oh the Alamo dome. maybe their crowds will be similar to Tulanes by the time we play them. I don't give us an edge over them because I don't think we are any more talented than them. We have the talent level of an FCS team.

At this point in the season, I don't think anyone can accurately make a firm statement about our team's talent level. We have too many new first year players (frosh & JUCO) and too many second year "veterans" who are still likely to improve as the season progresses. It remains a possiblity that neither of our veteran QBs will be starting by midseason unless they show something we have not seen yet, but two games is not enough to make such a move at this time.

I think the 2009 and 2010 had more talent than this years team. I definitely think the d-line, WRs, and linebackers where better. The WRs were tall and fast, just to name a few: Mario Wright, Frantrell Forrest, Nick Adams, Roddell Carter, and Mike Jones. The current running backs are better than I have ever seen.

There were probably around 5k Ok State fans.... the rest were UTSA fans.

Please get off the ledge.

Oh and I also back what Roadrunner was is saying. It was an overwhelming UTSA crowd.

Is our talent level FCS as stated above? I don't think so. If it is so is Troy.

& I wouldn't expect that UTSA crowd to dwindle anytime in the near future.

Definitely a plus for the league.

Thanks for the correction. I had an Okie $tate fan fell me how GREAT! they traveled. 5,000 isn't good at all for a Top-15 program. That is very impressive what UTSA is doing with their attendance.......wish we could bottle that!

RE: New football season, conference race
A friend pointed it out and I agree with him. As soon as the game was out of hand it appeared McGee was coaching towards the Conference race. It became a glorified scrimmage to which we were paid handsomely. I have no problem with that at this stage of our program. We have been down so long it's almost like starting over. You have to crawl before you walk. I may be wrong but that was my take.

NW State may give us fits for a while but I think we can put them away and get some valuable PT for some guys.

Does that mean concede Vandy? Certainly not. I think we match up a hell of a lot better with them. We go up there to win. Will we? Odds are stacked but anything can happen. We are certainly capable. I still think this team can get to 6 wins. Vandy sure would make up for the Troy loss. I have by $10.00 tickets and am ready to spend the weekend in Nashville!

There were several players that got into the game on Saturday that were either receiving their first playing time or a lot more time as a result of the score. This is good.

Nashville is a great town. You are right, we match up with Vandy a heck of a lot better than we did LSU.........Vandy will be coming off of a physical game with S. Carolina too.

Now that it's Monday, I find myself more able to take Saturday night with a grain of salt. I was pretty demoralized watching that ass whoopin', but then I thought LSU will probably do that to several teams this year, some of them pretty good.

I view the Troy game as more of a barometer of where we are, and we roughed them up pretty good until we had an attack of the stupids.

The good news is that that the F_U duo to start the conference slate pits us against likely the 6th/7th place teams in our division. I honestly believe that once we put a complete game together and win, it will begin to click with our guys. This hasn't happened yet (remember, we had to hang on for dear life against Marshall at the end last year).

For those of you who has questioned his every move, does McGee instantly become a more mature, experienced coach in this upcoming run, or does the team band together to overcome his constant mishandling of every coaching decision he has to make?

Easier compared to the rest which are better teams, not necessarily a win.

The 4 weeks of MTSU, Marshall, ECU and then Rice are gonna be the key. It will make or break our season.

Then So Miss and we will see if they have improved from last year or not.

I think we COULD go 6-2 in conference but we will see.

I was pointing out that starting out first against the F_U's, the weaker teams will allow us a good chance to get wins, confidence, etc. Then we play UTSA who I think is better than the F_U's but not as good as MTSU, Marshall, ECU and Rice. Its as if someone setup the conference schedule so we had increasing better opponent each week, until the second to last game. I not sure we would be ready for Rice or ECU as the conference opener, but hopefully by November we will be better prepared.

I said COULD go 6-2, but I could see 3-5 as well. I don't think we will have a good read on the team until game 5. Hell if we pull some crazy things like last year, one week we could stink it up against a weak team and the next week hang with or beat or good team.

We aren't consistent, except for losing. 8 years in a row and working on the 9th. I pray we can break that streak.

7-5, plus win in conference championship and bowl game: 9-5. Count on it.
