Memphis

Cincinnati
South Florida
Central Florida
VCU (non-football)

The Cincinnati and Memphis quads would be the East Division in football, while the Boise State and UNLV quads would be the West Division in football.

Since this split happens five years from now, the new conference snags an automatic bid (6 teams together for five years)

The Mountain West:

Air Force
New Mexico State (from SBC)
Idaho (from SBC)
Wyoming
San Jose State
Utah State
Colorado State
Nevada
Montana (from Big Sky)
Montana State (from Big Sky)
Sacramento State (from Big Sky)
Portland State (from Big Sky)

The American:

Connecticut
UMass (from MAC/Atlantic 10)
Temple
Navy (football only)
Army (football only, from independent)
Tulsa
Tulane
East Carolina
Old Dominion (from C-USA)
Florida Atlantic (from C-USA)
Florida International (from C-USA)
North Texas (from C-USA)

C-USA adds James Madison and Delaware to get back to 12.

The Sun Belt gets UALR and Texas-Arlington to move to FBS, then gets East Tennessee State to do the same.

First off, either Seattle or Denver are Big West bound; they just don't know it yet. Second, is there any movement for UA Little Rock or Texas-Arlington to add football?

That how you make FBS better, add more teams?

Unless if enough conferences move at the same time, all against the same conference, the G5 will just keep reloading from FCS.

The other alternative would be for the leftover G5 conferences to negotiate a higher cap on the first tier of playoff money with the goal of consolidating into four conferences.

Actually, some consolidation of G5 conferences should be the next step rather than the willy nilly promotion of FCS schools. There are already enough FBS schools. It's an organizational problem rather than a shortage of schools.

This is the proper way to do it.

if we can't get a P5 invite, I'd take this

I'd go for it too, so long as we didn't have to shelve our Oly's in the Big West...

The ECU fans have a valid complaint of being left out of this. Hopefully another Western school out of SJSU, UTEP, USU, or UNR would step up as a valid 16th. How many votes does it take to dissolve the AAC and MWC? If it's 8 for each conference, then that pretty much sets the membership distribution.

im a cu-buff and even i can admit the rams are for real. you might just be one of the strongest g5 school 10-15 years down the road.

-new on campus stadium
-academics are on the rise (made a pretty impressive jump in us news)
-in one of the top 10 fastest growing states in the US
-limited amounts of power schools within your region = less competition

you guys still need a med school and to improve your endowment, but id say the future is very bright for fort collins

But now SMU left out. Put Them in West and bring in USM east for 18. Both will improve in the future I would say.

Before UT Arlington can move up they need to start a football program.

CU-Boulder doesn't have a med school either. The Med school is 50 miles away and is part of UC-Denver; a completely different university, although in the same system. Their relationship is similar to UC-Berkeley and UCLA, except that UC-Denver doesn't have intercollegiate sports.

For those wondering about the naming differences, the university in Boulder is CU, and the university in Denver and Aurora is UCD.

BTW, the last numbers I saw had both UCD and CSU having slightly larger enrollments and slightly more research grant money than CU. CSU is also more selective than CU. Maybe, CU is the third best school in Colorado.04-jawdrop

Cadets already get a stipend each month to cover expenses while at school (uniforms, haircuts, shoe shine, etc). With a small portion of it going into their pockets and the rest going into a held account that they receive after graduation. Whether they are willing to increase the stipend from the $900 or so they currently get to something more substantial is hard to say.

As of January 1st, a cadet or midshipman is paid $1006.80 per month. An additional $239.96 is paid for the Basic Allowance for Subsistence. The BAS is paid directly to the dining facility except when the member is on temporary duty to a location without a dining facility. Housing and medical care are provided.

Cadets/midshipman have very few opportunities to spend money. Fourth and Third class-men are not allowed to own or maintain any motor vehicle. They may only rent a vehicle during authorized leave. First and Second class-men are allowed to have cars on the academy but there are restrictions on use especially for the Second class-men.

There is no need for the academies to provide a stipend to athletes. The point of the stipend is to provide for the full cost of attendance at the school. The academies are already doing that and more.

re 12 schools from AAC and 6 from MWC: my bad...I figured UH, SMU, and TU were moving to MWC! <brainfart>

Also, since my team's gonna get their head kicked in by Bama this weekend -- and thus have a 1-3 OOC record -- I'm open to cheering for another school this week. I'm willing:

1) to root for your school,
2) to disparage your opponent's fanbase, and/or
3) to speculate wildly about the realignment of the conference of your choosing.
