Did you have a brain fart and type Jacksonville instead of UD? The NEC is a non scholly conference thats nothing more than a glorified Div III conference, many of whos teams still schedule Div IIIs. JU might be good for the NEC, but that's not saying much. Heck, I'd even pick URI against them. UD will roll them- won't be remotely close.

Jacksonville is not located in the northeast, and is in the pioneer league. They have been one of the consistent teams in Fcs as far as I can remember and they beat odu in 09 or 10. Combine the fact that their stats aren't too far off from UD's and they could beat UD. They "shouldn't", but I'd say that it's the closest to a toss up of any of the week 1 games.
To pick uri to beat any Fcs team right now is just silly IMO. They're likely among the five worst Fcs teams in the country and I won't pick them to win any game until they... Well, actually win a game.

I meant non scholly PFC. Brain cramp when I typed NEC.

JU might have beaten ODuh in their 1st year of football 4 years ago. But to compare their stats from that glorified Div III league they play in is laughable. If you think that is a toss up game then you are delusional. I'll bet you $$$ right now UD wins by at least 20...

Jacksonville's conference is pretty weak so I'm not sure they stand much of a chance. They may have the ODU win, but Jacksonville has lost badly whenever they have faced a team from the SoCon so I'd imagine that will be the case with UD as well.

Yep- lost 58-0 to GSU last season, the only good team they played.

JMU's CAA football schedule will be a helluva test to see if our football program is even close to "FBS Ready". We are playing the best CAA Teams, and possibly Best FCS Teams, almost 9 weeks in a row with 1 off week. Our schedule is tough enough even with CCSU and St Franks! I am ready for the battle!...........Looking forward to a road trip next week to Akron with a Friday night side trip to Pittsburgh for some adventure!!

Well, they made up a story in 2010-2011 of "We're going to the Big East". BE at that point still a BCS conference. This story helped VU land the Sporting News #1 ranked I-AA recruiting class in 2011. All those signees are now 3rd year rSo or JR.

2 years ago when it came out that VU going to the BE was BS I was saying JMU should make up a story that were going to the ACC. Could have duped a whole slew of 2-3 star players signing just like VU did....

It's not that. They've been doing it over about the last 15-20 years.

They can also recruit nationally, being one of the few Div I Catholics after ND and BC. Take a look at VU's roster...

It's also a top notch academic school that just about every sports fan is familiar with due to the success of their basketball program. I have to believe that the kids feel it's less of a 'small time' program because of that despite the weak support for the team.

I'll post the scores of the CAA games each week.

8/29
Fordham beats Rhode Island 51-26. 14 consecutive losses for URI.
Towson upsets Connecticut 33-18.
Delaware beats Jacksonville 51-35.

Sorry but I had to dig this one up. We were both right in saying Delaware would win. I was right in that ju was going to give them a fight. They didn't beat them by at least 20. 16 point win for the blue hens.

You should have bet me since UD won 51-35, although UD totally dominated the game, as I expected, outgaining JU 611-224. Each team got a defensive TD: JU off of a pick 6, UD off of a fumble for a scoop and score.

Reason UD didn't win by 30+ is their special teams were a disaster.
-Fumbled a kick return, which JU scored a TD off of.
-Gave up a 42 KO return, which JU scored a TD off of.
-Gave up a 36 yd punt return.
-Missed a 32 yd FG
-Missed an XP.

I'll be announcing who has won with 100% prediction accuracy each week. You must post your predictions before the start of the first CAA game of that week.

So far... s2dsayer and jmad1son are the only posters to get through thursday night unscathed. Good job calling the Towson upset of UConn. I can't say I saw that dominant performance coming.

If I can jump in even belatedly...

8/31 - Villanova (8-4) @ Boston College (2-10) 12p ESPNews
William & Mary (2-9) @ West Virginia (7-6) 12p FS1
Albany (9-2) @ Duquesne (5-6) 12:10p
Central Connecticut State (2-8) @ James Madison (7-4) 6p MadiZONE
Virginia Military Institute (2-9) @ Richmond (8-3) 6p
Maine (5-6) @ Norfolk State (4-7) 6p

All probably pretty obvious other than BC Nova, but we'll see. Funny things happen all to frequently.
